So obviously the coyote is a world-class motor and if you have a minute to spare you should watch this vid I linked for some amazing facts about it. The only downside about the coyote cars to me is, the firing order causes the exhaust to sound well, "not right" regardless of your combinations as compared to old Windsor and the modular family engines.

Or is that just old man ranting? Anyone who had a gen-1 mustang looked at a foxbody and said "that's not a mustang." Same with most fox owners regarding the new edge. But in time, they got accepted, the old-timers went away and their cars rotted into the earth.

So idk. It seems kind of ridiculous to reject an amazing machine over an old fox, Termi or modular s197 GT500 over an exhaust note from 16 years ago.

Thoughts? TIA preesh

Strong disagree.

I’ve been deep in the SBF foxbody game for decades.
This car is basically a modern foxbody. If you don’t like the rasp, put a larger resonator on it to eliminate that.

it’s not going to sound like a .600 plus lift solid roller… and from the people who complain about every little tick, tap and click… that’s a great thing.

these cars reliably make and hold more power than most SBFs could ever dream of… Hell I had to run aftermarket 4 bolt block, with zero balanced stoker kits to swimg 7k plus… let alone 8k that any old coyote can do with a tune

And while the 10r80 is beyond superior, the MT82 is an absolute beast that stands atop a mountain of broken T5Zs and shitty TKO tremecs.

TY for replies.

I suppose it's bad enough that I'd sooner stay home than drive an automatic and plan to install the wildly unpopular Hurst shifter over the preferred MGW or Barton; if I started rejecting new Mustangs based on an old exhaust note I wouldn't be much better than ppl who still refuse to upgrade from carb to FI.

Video is interesting but also a little grating. The narration and the video images are often completely disjointed. It’s like someone is just reciting a bunch of stories and facts over a bunch of stock engine assembly footage.

if this was a high school project, I’d give it a C.

Personally, I love the exhaust note the Coyote engine produces. Not long after purchase I installed a Cat back Ford Performance/Borla Sport Exhaust on my Mustang. Start up will wake the neighbors until the RPMs drop. At low to mid RPM the exhaust says "here I am". Slightly above mid RPM up to or close to "redline" is pure raw power music to my ears.

As others have stated.... The high RPM exhaust note from a GT350/GT350R equipped with the N/A 5.2 Voodoo engine cannot be beat - Credit to its flat-plane crankshaft design.

Funny thing, I feel the same when starting my Eco-Boost. Perhaps it is the image as much as it is the engine?
Maybe. The EcoBeast is an awesome car with a great aftermarket but I do remember Car and Driver mentioning it "makes sounds no Mustang should ever make."

They don't sound as good as the 4.6, that's for sure. It doesn't help when people put headers, X pipe, and Borla ATAK/Corsa Extremes on them.

I don't think it's fair to blame the engine, though. A Coyote swapped SN95 or Fox sounds just fine, since the mufflers are in the right place.

Yeah the sound of my 4.6 def sounds better to me and at only 59k miles it makes me wonder if I should just have it painted and call it a day. Maybe put some Brenspeed Detroit Rocker cams on it; FRPP intake and a one-piece driveshaft also on the maybe list. We'll see how work goes :)

What in the AI cringe was that video?

Hey AI.....Make me a video on the Coyote and use an old timey voice
Sounds like Sam Elliott which is a comforting voice to me; guess I'm just old.

At the beginning when he said "the 4.6 was a dog" I always bust out laughing; the tragedy of that engine was kiddos wanted fast off the showroom floor a la the F-bodies but a CAI/tune combo and shorter gears made a huge difference for not much work or monies. Too much effort I guess. Damn shame.
