Oil pump gears only benefit the people that sell them. Brevin at ESS just did an 8.69 quarter mile at 160 mph with stock OPG's.

My 2018 with a Procharger, making 780 at the wheel has gone 22k on stock oil pump gears.

My 2024 with a Whipple has stock OPG's. No issues.
You, sir, have an addiction.

I'm a long time horsepower junkie. I'm having a Whipple installed on my '25 DH right now. I see the billet OPGs and timing sprocket as insurance. The only time they really make a difference is if you really push the revs to the rev limiter under boost. This induces harmonics in the engine that has led to failures. I've seen the results of harmonics in engines and being sintered steel they are strong but are brittle with cyclic loading. To me it's cheap insurance putting in $500 worth of forged, micro polished, gears. BTW, I'm a recently retired mechanical engineer that worked in automotive product development for 43 years. I worked in sintered metals for a number of years. They're a fantastic product but they aren't perfect in every application, boosted, high RPM applications being one of them. If you don't mind getting your hands dirty, it's actually a reasonably simple do-it-yourself job .

First time I have seen this posted.
The intermittent cylinder killing of the ignition at the rev limit induces a high frequency oscillation, the harmonics of the frequency induced cause the cyclic loading to multiply, resulting in possible failures, especially with a repeated occurrence.

I understand. I've just never been afraid of getting the appropriate manuals and tools and going for it. Of course I do have a pretty extensive set of tools and a deep understanding of what is going on in most engines. Background knowledge is very valuable in learning new procedures.

Guess I'm just saying never be afraid to study your task and learn.
