You know, like if you wanted to put your floor jack in the trunk and take your track wheels to the track without a truck to tow a trailer.

Can you get all 4 wheels and tires in there?

I bought my dark horse in early January 2025 my wife and I flew out to Washington from arizona . We realized just how cold it was out there as well as very rainy in washington and snowy in oregon and norther nevada(our route home) inhad the dealer install michillin pilot sport all season 4’s. My wife and I were able to stuff the 4 stock pirelli’s into the car , two in trunk two in back seat and drive the 1300 mile trip home.

Thank you. This is good information.

Back seat backs laid down or left up like a regular seat?

Any reason to think it would have been different had they been mounted on wheels, other than being a little heavier to maneuver?

Oh, and were these the handling package tires or the standard Dark Horse tires?

Is the trunk different in a convertible, or is bountifulgoose's wife just that much better at packing than you are?

Truck in vert is smalller to make room for top. And seats do not fold down. As for the size of tires they were 19 255 and 275. As for wheels only thing I would be worried is protecting the seats from damage from metal vibrating from road bumps but a good moving blanket would do it I would think.

These were base dark horse tires, back seat was down. I put one in the spare tire well and one on top of it. The other two in the back seat compartment. Mind you I had my wife and I in the car. If its just you, you have the front passenger seat to utilize as well so I dont see you having a problem figuring it out even on the rim.

Two in the trunk, maybe four on the back seat? One strapped onto the roof, one on the trunk lid?
Jokes aside, I can't believe how much crap you can squeeze into these things.

That's a book case, and no, it is not secured, but don't worry, the driver is holding it with his right hand.

As to how many wheels and tires you can fit...
Pictures. Or it never happened.
You gotta love those Miata guys!

Thanks for the additional info. I have the handling package wheels/tires, and if I were to carry track tires, they would each be 11" wide with 295 or 305 or 315 tires or 30/68-18 slicks, so I am curious whether I can do the same thing. Sounds like I can one way or another. Obviously with slicks I cannot drive to/from the track. With soft tires like Pirelli Trofeo RS or Goodyear F1 Supercar 3R or something, it would probably be a lot less hassle just to mount them and drive them to the track and back home.

It would be cool to be able to fit a small cooler with the tires, too.

And, yeah, it will probably be just me.

I need to look into covers for the wheels and tires to protect my interior.

I dunno. I almost thought I messed up when our microwave fried and I took my Mustang to get a new one instead of the SUV.

I finally got it shoehorned onto the front passenger seat. It was for sure not going in the trunk or the back seat, as there was no way to wedge it though either opening.

Yup lay the back seat down and slide them through the trunk into the back seat, then prop them up, slide the front seats back. On our trip we had a small 16x24 suitcase and a backpack. So you should be able to fit a small suitcase no problem. We didnt have tire covers so we used a blanket or a sheet to cover em and protect the interior.
