How’s this for an idea? Farley just says “screw it”. The ungrateful bastards will complain about whatever we do so let’s just scrap the whole damn thing. All we need are trucks and SUV’s. See problem solved. Time to buy a Prius.
How's this for an idea? Stop being so offended by every who disagrees with you. Its not a cult.

It’s not but take the whining some where else. Complaining about naming conventions is flat out juvenile. Complaining that it’s like something else when it’s not is juvenile. Complaining that something doesn’t meet a particular need is also juvenile because you can bet it is meeting someone else’s need. They have focus groups for a reason.

I am willing to venture that the vast majority of complainers are the very trolls that couldn’t or wouldn’t afford to buy anyway which is all the more reason why it is juvenile.

I appreciate honest (with good intentions) feedback from people that give a balanced take on things. But not people that just bitch because that is neither helpful or wanted by genuine enthusiasts.

FORD is not tone deaf because they listen to all types of fans but they are going to do what is in their best interest first. That’s how all this (Mustang) started to begin with. I trust their judgement even if it doesn’t always align with my wishes. That‘s how genuine enthusiasts will see it. Anyone else that doesn’t is just trolling.

By the way, FORD was going to replace the car with the Probe not just rebadge it. Kind of a big deal and not in the same league of what we are discussing here.
Are you special friends with Farley or something? The only one whining is you. You came out of no where on this forum and started trolling everyone who disagrees with your opinion on this car like a rabid cult member. ALL of your responses are juvenile. People are allowed to having differing opinions, get over it. If you like the car then buy one and stop talking down to everyone you disagree with. Jesus Christ.

They give us an 800+ HP factory sports car and all we can do is bitch about a name. It's just childish and disrespectful. As I was taught "it not what you say, it's how you say it".
Childish and disrespectful? Lol. Thats well past "devils advocate ". Do you need a safe space snowflake? Why do you take other opinions on the internet so personally? People are allowed to disagree. If your going to be so offended on a car forum, maybe you need a break from the internet.

After sloshing through countless comments, threads and opinions all over the internet related to this car, it seems that the overwhelming response can be distill into:

"COBRA INCOMMING F**K YEAH WOW!! THIS IS AWES....wait....WTF IS A Dark Horse SC!?!?!......well....uh....*transitions to coping voice*....I mean yeah it's cool they made another GT500 right?....right guys?....I guess we did ask for that although they sure took it literally...*pensive beard stroking*....man that bumper looks like a Camaro"

This car is meant for people who will actually drive the car and not sit in a lawn chair at the local cars and coffee telling people they have this "brand name" car. I swear people care about the dumbest things.
There are some people on the S550 GT350 and GT500 forums that would like to have a word with you ….

We have quite a few members that actually drive/track their cars and track them …

curious if you have ever had your car on a track?

You need to work on your reading comprehension skills. I never said people with Shelbys don’t track their cars.

I’m calling out all the people who care about whether a car has a specific trim name and base their decision on whether or not it’s a good car solely on that.

No one who really drives their car for themselves cares about what it’s called or if it has a certain brand name attached to it.

Edit: I’ve tracked a FP Dark Horse at Charlotte Motor Speedway and I’ve rented a Hertz GT500 for a whole weekend last time I was in Vegas. You’re not special just because you track a car 😂😂😂. You and I both know that just because you track a car that doesn’t make you a good driver. There’s plenty of people on tracks every weekend that have no business being there.

I think Ford changed up the name last second. Lol

slightly better look at that:

yeah, that definitely says "BOSS". wonder why Ford abandoned that and went with "SC" instead? but also, it could've been one lone developer adding that to a test build of the IPC software. we don't know and probably never will

I wanted to add a little more context to the changes we see (or will see) on this engine versus the engine when it was in the GT500. Here's an extra set of GT500 exhaust manifolds I have. Very similar to what came on the GT350 as well. Note the flange, you see the exhaust ports along with the holes for the fasteners to pass through them.

Now look at the manifold for the GTD which will mirror that of the Dark Horse SC. A much bigger flange with additional holes which allow for the air injection system to pump air into the cylinder head. Those new holes are directly above each exhaust port.

GTD Manifold 2.webp

The connection to the manifold begins at a small flange at the leading end of the manifold which then further distributes the air as seen below in the upper right hand corner.

GTD Manifold 3.webp

That is just at the manifold. The entire support system of hardware becomes a bit more complex and convoluted. And expensive.

The above hardware takes up space and adds cost for very little "green" benefit. I was hoping that with numerous changes at the EPA that this system would no longer be necessary but so far that isn't the case. Note that the SC engine has yet to receive an EPA Certificate of Conformity either.
wonderful, more complicated emissions stuff. how long do you think before the GTD and DH SC get an aftermarket delete kit for it?

Removal would be rather easy and then plugging the flange at the manifold followed with tuning. Anyone doing long tubes will end up tuning and shitcanning the pump system as well.

Anyone know why Ford chooses Eaton units over Whipple for the superchargers on this and the GTD?

Price, quality/reliability, production volume?

Remember we saw that factory GTD with a Whipple?

technically, a roots type supercharger is more efficient. takes less power to drive but also makes less power. a twin screw type takes more power to drive, but can also make a lot more power. also Ford probably gets a licensing or royalty fee from the likes of Whipple when they work together and Ford lets them make their own tune. if there was no aftermarket upgrade path, that wouldn't exist

Excellent post.

Thank you.

I do not want to get into politics, but on the EPA, we often forget that California drives the market for these things. No manufacturer is going to bother marketing a 49 state car. You get the same thing in text books, which is driven by California requirements, which is why you get weird, woke BS in textbooks used by a school in rural Tennessee. It has always been that way. I still remember reading about Ray Bradbury's reaction to edits made to selections from Fahrenheit 451 used in a textbook, taking out the references to God. He was quite amused at the irony since the theme of that book is censorship.

Anyway, Ford will meet all of California's requirements. Ford was actually one of the half dozen manufacturers to sign an agreement with California back in 2019 (why???).

GM sided with Trump.

Eaton is also an OEM automotive supplier. It is a real manufacturer with a century of producing electrical, mechanical, and automotive systems.

Whipple cannot really compete with that.
