What I care mostly about is the Ford in my garage and the cost to own it. That's where my money is. I'll never do the 'ring but do understand the significance of it. Ford needs to get away from what Ford needs to being consumed by Ford to being consumed by customers.

I'd never knock a thread BUT this constant recurring talk about corvettes - isn't there a forum for delusional corvette owners, somewhere?????......I don't care how much faster a friggin' corvette is. My friend has one I have accompanied him to their coffee and cars ...... looks like a bunch of seniors playing with transformer toys. Effin uglier every year. Then I start my GT to leave and and they all turn around - I bet, until they see the stang, they all wonder who got his 'vette to sound so good. I used to like corvettes but the last decade - effin ugly junk. Give me one and I wouldn't be seen driving it - put it right up for sale and buy a real car ..... Mustang GT.
You want to see the Corvette guys get their parties in a twist. Tell them that their car looks like a transformer had sex with a praying mantis. 🤣

I think it’s fun and interesting to compare ‘Ring times, but people act like it’s the be-all, end-all of car performance when in reality it’s just one data point. Also, most Americans—even those that track their cars domestically—will likely never have the opportunity to drive the Ring. I can’t get too fussed over a car’s performance on a track I’ll likely never drive versus its performance on tracks I can actually take my car to.
You've missed the point a bit. If it's good on that track, it'll be really great on the road. You can't say that about many other tracks.

Equating racetrack performance to road capability with these higher-end modern performance cars is a bit nonsensical, IMO. The car may be great on the Ring or my local track, but you'll never be able to push these cars past 4/10ths for more than a second on a public road unless you're going in a straight line.

The Nordschliefe is a real road, it's bumpy, long and hard to fully learn. Road rules apply for cars and drivers depending if it's a TF or trackday or race day.
It's like the Isle of Man for bikes and some of our local street circuits and hillclimbs.
You may not be allowed to drive at ten 10ths on a public road anywhere else, but that does not mean the car won't feel great when you do stretch it out a bit.
We are lucky enough to still still have a few back roads which the public aren't aware of and are lightly policed where you can have a bit of a blast for a few kms.
That works for me.

I usually say something like "your Crocs don't match your white socks".
