Uhhhhh, what about the GTD? lol
You do realize that the Shelby “name” was pure marketing as Shelby American had nothing to do with Ford’s cars. There is more to a car than just its name. But I understand the allure that the Shelby name has.

I just watched stangmode's vid, holy shit does this thing look gorgeous, especially the black one that shows up at the 9 min mark.

What I really love about the front end is the flow of it. The previous gen GT 500 looked really good, but was sectioned of. It was a really strongly defined black center piece surrounded by body color. Whereas with this, the black section flows uninterrupted across the entire front end, which looks really clean and mean, full on muscle car.

I really like the body colored corner vents as well, it prevents the entire front end from just being this black hole.

BAH! Badges, Aero, Horsepower...I am so disappointed. I expected something new but it seems they just keep beating this dead horse. A face full of black plastic honeycomb! Where have I seen this before?

Fair point. I think maybe because the GTD is a 350k car, its not on people's radar with other Mustangs. Which is understandable.

But there is absolutely a prestige that comes with a name though. Shelby GT350 and GT500 has always invoked desirability, sexiness, and peak performance for a Mustang. Dark Horse SC does none of those things. I dont care what's Ford's PC justification is.

I agree with you 100% but the Shelby name has been around for over 60 years. That's history. The DH name has been around for 3. Not really a fair comparison at least for today. Now come back 20 years from now, hopefully, and let's see if that changes.

Good Lord...

No fucking way I'm spending upwards of 100k on something called "Dark Horse". It will never hold it's value and those that think it will are sniffing glue.

Shelby or Vette...
Really? Let's see... A Shelby wasn't a Shelby until it became a Shelby and that took time. Give it time and the same will happen for the Dark Horse and those that think it won't are relics of the past and with that there is no future. Get with it or get out. 😉

It didn't take time. And the name isnt a relic. Its an established icon. Ford didn't renew the license to save money and they are using the racing excuse as a reason. And if you ARE going to replace it, dont pick something stupid. You still have Cobra and Boss. Its ain't rocket science.

And no, in 20 years no one is going get the feels when they hear Dork Horse SC. 🤣

Dude, you really need to learn your history.

Lee went to Caroll because Ford didn't have a racing division for the Mustang at the time. It was because of what he did for the Cobra that he thought could also be done for the Mustang. That's the legacy, the man, NOT the name plate.

Why, because they had a falling out a few years later. The relationship was tumultuous from then on. Frankly, the only true Shelbys are the ones that came before that departure. I have never been a fan of that moniker since because it lost its credibility as a racing brand and has since morphed into a marketing brand. That's a huge problem for anyone that knows that which clearly you did not.

I agree that the nameplates MACH 1, BOSS and Cobra (and Bullitt) still have value but NOT Shelby, not anymore because it has been water down by the company that owns it. Silly bolt-ons and a little cosmetic dressing does not a Shelby make. What Shelby America is putting out today is pathetic and thank God FORD is not a player.

Dark Horse now and forever baby!
