Are tuners actually getting rid of the CEL for no cats?
Thanks, even if it is disappointing to read.
you just have to tell them its for off road use only then they can do it but you can do it yourself easy in hp tuners been doing it for years
just set no error reported on all the secondary o2 codes while it has passed the readiness monitor so ideally before you put the parts on

this wont work every where though like CA they check the tune checksum and can tell its not stock so auto fail

It’s simple. They turn off the 2nd bank of O2 sensors. The computer has no data to compare.
You lose something, though, right? Something more than a check engine light trigger, I mean. Or is it only checking on the working of the catalytic converter and sending a fail code? It does not tell the engine to do anything at all?

You don't need to turn the O2's off ... If you have to pass emissions that'll result in a Fail anyway.

The key is to get the rear O2's in the sweet spot so they go ready.

I've been running Lethal/Kooks O/R headers for a year with the Big Daddies Garage angled O2 extender, My rear O2's took a couple weeks to go ready and all my emissions monitors are ready.

+1 to @drive_55_not's comment, speaking with other forum members bigdaddiesgarage's solution seems to be the solution that works most often. Even I am changing to bigdaddiesgarage's solution over what I currently have on my headers; Just need to get my car up in the air and make the swap.

but setting all the monitors as no error reported makes them show ready all the time

I've been running Stainless Works LTH (with High Flow CATs) with a Borla SwitchFire X-Pipe on my Dark Horse for over a hear now. I love the setup and get a lot of "Damn your car sounds great" comments. They only problem I have is the occasional CEL (I have a pair of XForce 02 Sensor With Mini Cat Convertor installed but still get a CEL. Keep in mind I installed LTH long before tuning was available).

Thank to @beefcake sale over the holidays Whipple stage 2 has been ordered, I am waiting for delivery.

I don't have a video of the complete installation or under the car but I do have cold start video in the garage I can upload if you are interested.
I knew going in that I could get a CEL before tuning but I also knew I was going to add a Whipple so I wasn't overly concerned about the CEL. Fixing (tricking) your car with exhaust foulers (also known as Mini Cats or spark plug extenders) is hit or miss. I put almost 700 miles on my car around Thanksgiving with no CEL. Took it for a spin around the block another day doing a few pulls along the way and boom CEL. The way my car is setup at the moment the CEL will clear itself in one or two drive cycles, I don't have to get my scanner or Forscan out to clear the codes.

All I am saying is that these cars tuned for their stock CATs, as soon as you remove those you run the risk of the CEL unless you get your car tuned. Just wanted you to be aware since I was chiming in on the thread and have a similar setup to what @bdm219, you, or others may be planning.

Just my opinion though, I'm sure others can chime in an offer their own experience.
I recently installed the Stainless Works LTH on my stage 2 Whipple Dark Horse and have not had the CEL come on. Maybe it's too soon since it's only been a week. It's my daily and I drive it from Orange County to Los Angeles for work even though I have a company car I could drive I prefer my DH. When I installed the LTH I also installed the Lethal Performance stainless steel 90 degree 02 spacers. At a $100 a pair I feel they're doing what they are intended to do and that's to keep the CEL from coming on. Only time will tell.. For now the6 seem to do the trick. I've got around 400 miles or so since the header install so I think if the CEL was going to come on it likely would have already. When and if it does I'll keep you in the loop. 🫡

I promised I would come back and update everyone after I changed over to Big Daddies Garage angled O2 extender. Installed them and ran a few hard pulls which used to cause my CEL, the changed seemed to solve the CEL problem I was having. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to test A LOT more before my Whipple came in. That said Whipple is installed with LTH, Borla Switchfire, and Big Daddies Garage angled O2 extenders all running on the Whipple calibration. No CEL after the install.

Here is a Bonus Dyno video for those interested.

I do everything myself, but not this lol. I have a performance shop that will do it in the Spring. I will have them dyno tune it also. The price he quoted made it a no brainer for me.
Please get the dyno results both before and after the changes. Just doing it afterwards doesn't prove much.

Appears to be a good advertisement for Big Daddies Garage angled O2 extenders, at least so far.
