Ran across this strange thread - a guy is asserting that he was able to manage heat . . .

I run my Whipple PP car on track a fair bit. It is an absolute hoot. I have added a belt bar and run a 5 point harness. I have the larger intercooler from Whipple, and I run a stage 1 system. I have coil overs with 6GR wheels and big rubber.
I have tuned my car to stop using boost when the IATs hit 150 or the coolant gets about 235. I usually get power limited once during a 20 minute session. It lasts about half a lap, and then it is game on again.
I have a cooler on my diff and want to ad one to the trans next (MT82). I will probably upgrade my radiator next. I have no issue making quick laps and as it is not a competition, having a lap of non boost runtime gives me a chance to work on perfecting my line.

If it were a track car, I wouldn’t run such a significant aftermarket power adder. 20-25 min track sessions are very different than a 10-20 second pull.

said no one ever. I want to go as fast as I can all the time. I plan to track my RTR and I’m aiming for 750 WHP

Have you planned cooling modifications for oil and coolant yet? 750 to the wheels generates a lot of heat that has to be removed from the engine oil and coolant.

Short answer:yes
Long answer: I have the PP and if I need a bigger intercooler or heat exchanger or oil cooler or trans cooler or diff cooler then that’s what I’ll add.

I know Misha is looking into adding forced induction.

I would consider holding off for a minute and waiting for him to make some runs with that thing in the spring/summer of '26. See how his car takes to it.

Most people seem to say the same thing, its hard to manage heat with the whippled mustangs at the track.

There has to be a way to do it. Just because I do not know what it is does not mean it cannot be done.

But I am inclined to think the radiator that the Dark Horse R cars used as an upgrade (dual pass) may be a step in the right direction, along with an even larger oil cooler or a second oil cooler and a larger separate transmission cooler. One has to then figure out how to get enough airflow.

There have to be options out there for larger or secondary cooling radiators for each of these systems.

As far as the Whipple is concerned, getting more heat out of the coolant would be the primary consideration, and getting more heat out of the oil would be the next consideration.

Just like the Dark Horse handling package cools better than the base GT model without the performance package, the solution is yet another upgrade beyond what the Dark Horse has. There may not be a ready, off the shelf option, but I am certain it can be done.

A Google search tells me that the Dark Horse radiator is bigger than (more capacity) than the GT Performance Package radiator, which is bigger than the non-performance package GT and Ecoboost. In fact, getting the Dark Horse radiator is an upgrade for smart owners of tuned Ecoboosts churning out more horsepower and torque. Mishimoto sells an upgraded radiator, 117% increase in volume over the stock radiator (for Ecoboost) and 29% increase over the performance package. It is, however, exactly the same as the Dark Horse (1.57" thick). I know for a fact there are radiators out there on the market almost twice that thickness.

The Dark Horse R dual pass racing radiator may be an off the shelf option for boosted Coyotes. It has brought down temperatures for the race cars (not boosted, but still, long races at the edge on slicks building a lot of engine heat). I don't know if it has what is needed for A10 models (the race cars are Tremecs), but I have seen a separate transmission cooler and oil cooler mounted in frames, which would probably cool the transmission better, anyway. And if that is not enough, maybe a custom build larger radiator with even more capacity would solve the issue.

There has to be a way to exchange enough heat through the radiator to keep the coolant temperatures down to a more reasonable level. The same goes for oil.

Maybe real coolant and oil temperature readings would be a good thing, too, as one goes about trying to solve this problem.

I'm certain it can be done, I'm just saying I don't know what it exactly is.

The simple answer: More surface area, hahah.

Update - PWR's 42mm radiator is about 1/4" thicker than the Dark Horse radiator, but I have to think the dual pass model being used by the racing teams is better, or they would have just picked this off the shelf unit and dropped it in without any of the modifications required by the dual pass model.
