Regular production options have been changing on cars (All makes) for decades! I can remember the same kind ofcomplaints coming from car owners when cassette / CD players were slowly de-contented on vehicles over the past decade. Unless you only buy a car every 5 or 6 years or so you see it all the time. I've bought 3 new cars over the past two years, so it really is "no big deal" to me, you work around it. Ps, it's Ford, Stellantis, GM, casinos, airlines, insurance companies, banks etc etc etc. One mans greed is anothers brilliant marketing .........
Deleting cassette/cd players in favor of USB drives and streaming is different from deleting for expense sake. Why would I still purchase a 2026 Mustang? Charger is EV or 6 cylinder, and Camaro is gone. Otherwise, this de-contenting, cheapening, greedy Ford executive BS makes me consider BMW. Cars have personality and status. Take it away and you have the 1982 Cimarron.

I was cross shopping an M2 when I bought my Mustang. If they’d had it priced at the current sticker price, I’d have just gone for the M2. I got mine at $53k or it would have been wildly overpriced for what it is.

Hmmm ...To me, a deletion is a "change", and, WHO isn't charging more for less..... We can beat up Ford, but, what is "basic" to you, might be something others wouldn't spec or buy if given a choice ..... Hell, I don't know, but, it's not likely that they will sell fewer Mustangs because door sills aren't lit, or garage door openers have been deleted .....
This is a list of stuff that you no longer get on the premium 401A compared to 2024 -

Home link garage door.
Wireless charging.
Floor mats.
Illuminated door sills.
Leather knee bolsters.
Rear spoiler.

And now the car is 8k more. If you fine with those "changes", then more power to you. I think its ridiculous.

So don’t buy it. I mean if you can convince the whole USA to make a statement and not purchase a mustang maybe that be an impact but government also play a roll making certain features mandatory soon. Someone said it earlier…Camaro gone, charger EV or Inline-6, and corvette doing its own thing. I love the American brands but not the current state. I love my 24 Mustang and happy where I am for now.

It's not that it's "fine" with me .... It wasn't "anything". For the 2026 model year, Ford wanted, $ xx.xx amount for this and that, I wasn't buying a 2024 or 2025, or a BMW or a Chev. or whatever. What they offered for sale, I was prepared to buy for some price. I added a door opener and wireless charging for 15 bucks (floor mats were N/C), I didn't even know what an illuminated door sill was until reading about it here, I would have removed the spoiler and my knees don't care what the knee bolsters are are made of. My point is: I wanted a "new" American convertible with a trunk- Ford offers the only one left. If any of the doo dads you list had been a sale "show stopper", I guess I would have had to buy something else. I believe I got a reliable, dependable convertible transportation, for an amout I was willing to pay. I don't think that was ridiculous.

Just FYI, floor mats were added back to 401A...which definitely meets the ridiculous standard to even talk about on a "premium"

I am in the same boat. Not excited about the cuts, but very excited to get a manual V8 convertible that fits my XL self. (and it is still a sane price point compared to what I cross shopped from BMW and Porsche) Fortunately, none of what is missing impacts the experience I am looking for.
What will get me PO'd is if it is corrected for '27 and they add back some buttons!

If Ford really needed to save some money on Mustangs, why didn't they just get rid of the back "seats". They're completely useless decoration.

There could be supplier issues where it costs more to retool or reinvest than it does to just nix the entire part.

lol. My kids love the back seat. part of the reason I went with the convertible is that it has better headroom even when the top is up. Of course I had the top down basically every day for the entire summer, but I use my back seat basically every single day.

The only reason I am getting a Mustang over a C8 is because of the back seats. It's fantastic to have if you have kids around the house and the Mustang is part of your car rotation at home.

I'm 6'2" and I made myself fit into a Mustang backseat during a test drive! Okay, I had to fold myself. So yeah, for 1 hr+ drives it doesn't work but in my world up to 15 mins works just fine!

What? Why do you think im trying to convince people not to buy the car? My criticism is directed at Ford for cutting accessories while simultaneously raising the price. Not the people buying it.

You're missing my point. Im glad you got the car and you love it. My criticism is at Ford, not you for buying it. 👍🏻

My kid has kids so I don't need a back seat. It looks nice but serves no purpose for me but does add cost and weight. I wish Ford would consider an mid-engine but it would compete with the Mustang, so they won't.

I think due to the general cost of things going up, a lot of cars and things will have to be targeted to a more mature (read, more money) demographic. Kids buying Mustangs without ridiculous debt is about a thing of the past. I read yesterday that the average new car costs just under $50K with an average monthly payment of $776. I find that kind of monthly payment unfathomable. People doing that will never get anywhere.
