The fact that you can option a GT Premium to more than the starting cost of a Corvette is ridiculous. I do not remember any other generation of Mustang where that was possible.

The one I priced out was $65K, my 2024 M2 I bought for $64K. Now the 2025 M2s base at $68K but they come pretty much with everything. I remember when I bought my first M3 it was $48k (2001 E46 M3), in 2001 I base SVT Cobra in 2001 was $28K.

70+K to get a DH similar to my Mach 1?! I paid $58K for mine...brand new in April 2021. Lol. I couldn't even get the weather resistant foot mats either. No wonder the S650 isn't selling well. Good lord. At least they added an orange color back.

Yep. If I had to come out of my Mach 1, I would be in a C8. Mustangs are way too expensive now for what you get. What will the new Boss/500 run? 140K? Lol.

58k in 2020 or 2021 would be about 70-72k in 2025.

Agree - inflation plus tariffs.

Honestly post after post moaning about prices of Mustangs when all other cars have gone up too by similar amounts. It really is a case of shouting at the sky!

Oh and those 'cheap' M2's (Mexico) and M4's (Germany) will not be so cheap when cars subject to the tariffs are sent. Very few cars being sent to the US at the moment for this very reason.

Just checked against my 2024 GT Coupe Premium and got the following:
2024 2026 % Chg
Base $47,380 $51,080 +7.8%
Options $ 4,470 $ 5,730 +28%
Subtotal $51,850 $56,810 +10%
Dest-Deliv $ 1,595 $ 1,995 +25%
MSRP $53,445 $58,805 +10%

Big hitter here is the $1170 new option for the B&O sound system! Definitely worth it, but having to buy that now as an option makes a big difference. Take that out and the Base gets closer, probably not that much different than other OEMs are doing. Still makes Mustang a relative bargain, if what you want is a V8 with MT! I really like mine and I have owned all sort of the "higher-priced models" over the last 25 years! Just saying...............

The tariffs already affected M2 pricing. They went from $64k to $69k. There was 2 price increases since 2024.

An excuse or an incentive? Excuse to raise the price or an incentive because they don’t pass it on but rather expense it as promotional?

I couldn't tell you to be honest. Right when the tariffs were announced BMW said they would honor the current prices up until 1 May 2025. If you had an ordered car the pre tarriff price would be honored. I bought my G87 in 2024 when they had a base price of $64,995. The initial increase was $2K, then for a 2026 another increase. The exact same car today would cost me $70,025.

This has kept my resale quite high, I can sell my 24 G87 for $61-62K, I only owe $54K.

There is no company in the world that will not (or even be able too) pass on most or all of the tariff costs to the buyers. Some people are deluded on here as to what they think company profit margins are. Other than Ferrari zero car makers have a margin exceeding 10% and most are around 5% or less.

What you have seen above is exactly what is happening across the board on all imported goods. Indeed even stuff 'made in the US' is affected, the Mustang being a good example where supply chains are so diversified.

Do you usually pay more than the manufacturer’s suggested retail price?

So assuming tariffs are reduced or ended spat some time, does anyone think the prices will decrease again? The realist in me thinks no...

I just build a Dark Horse the way I would order and was 83K

2026 M4 is 84K
You can also pick up a nice C8 in that price range.......

Years ago the Mustang was the cheap option....

A Cobra in 1993 was around 19K while an M3 was 35K

Today- they are very nice cars......but I think Ford forgot who the customer is......the moved it a little too far upscale......
What was the salary in 93?

I want to apologize for all my complaining about prices going up. The past few years I've been playing with the configurator, spec-ing my dream GT, it's almost always come around to $55K tops, give or take. Still can't afford to get it, but I guess how I'm configuring it is consistent, I suppose.
