When you touch the door handle, you can hear it, but yes, it’s not very loud. You also have to wait a beat between closing the door and tapping the handle or it doesn’t take.

And the red LED where the old school locks used to be on old cars is hard to see in daytime. It was a while before I even noticed it!

No. You have to use the fob to get the beep. But you can most definitely hear the car lock when touching the handle.
That depends on how young your ears are and the environment you are in. I have had to wait far too many times for the noise around me to lessen before I can hear it. It isn't always, but often enough to be annoying. I am sure this could be fixed with a software update, but I doubt Ford will! I do know that pressing the button, on the door handle twice, doesn't do it for my car. Glenn

I'm a little perplexed by this whole complaint honestly. Is it that hard to just use the fob?

Yes! I hate taking the key fob out of my pocket. I don't know about you, but if my keys aren't digging into my leg, I don't want to take them out and put them back and get poked! Of course, I could take them out, but I would much rather not. Anyway, every time you get out of the car, you are standing right next to the button. If making the car beep was an impossibility, I get it, but this is a conscious choice by Ford and personally I would rather the sound was louder or at least give us the option of beeping the horn. Just my 2¢. Glenn

I know my wife Expedition, if a key is in the car and you lock it, when you close the door it will honk and then unlock warning you you left your keys in car so maybe that is why Ford doesn’t do it? It sure would be nice if the car had walk away locking. But then someone (probably me) would be frustrated because go into the garage without a key to grab something I forgot in the truck and the car is locked….

Most of the cars I have owned beep when you lock them. Not a big deal but it would be nice!

I'm not going to lose sleep over it but I think it is ridiculous that the Stang doesn't have this option! Glenn

It is odd.

But some features are random. My 06 GT trunk could only be opened by key fob or physical key, this car can open trunk 3 different ways, from inside, fob and button at rear bumper.

And why 3 ways to turn up radio volume? ….when I’d rather see the fan adjusted by the redundant volume knob Instead.

At least we can adjust the vents by hand. My wife’s Lincoln requires you to go into a submenu on the screen and digitally adjust the vent direction via touchscreen. Who needs to do that while trying to drive? And they blame phones for distracted driving…LMAO.

But the locking thing doesn’t bother me too much. Just wish the red LED on the door was more visible in daytime.

I would be happy with a larger red light. Glenn

It does have the option. You just don't want to carry keys like a normal person lol. But seriously, the flashing red door light shows you its locked when you hit the handle. That should be sufficient, no?

Btw, where do put your keys if they aren't in your pocket when you leave the car? 🤔🤔🤔

If I am not in my house they are always in my pocket. I don't leave home without them! Kinda like the American Express Card! Glenn

As I am getting out I hit the lock button on the door panel. I then hear the lock sound and have no doubt it is locked. I have done this on all my cars. I did try using the outside handle but it was harder to hear if I was in a traffic area.
