I was informed today by my local Ford dealer installing my supercharger that the Whipple calibration was being put on hold. Basically the service tech who installed my blower said that they aren’t allowed to tune the car with the Whipple calibration. He had no other information other than we had to wait. I submitted a request for information from Whipple support. I can’t find anything online to explain what’s going on. I haven’t even taken the vehicle home yet. Frustrating to say the least. I dodged a bullet with the recall only to get hit by another one with the calibration.

I'm really curious what this is about. I wonder if this hold from Ford has anything to do with the new tuning that is available for Whipple S.C.'s (Non Whipple Tunes).

Going to follow this thread to see what the outcome is.

Hopefully, you get some answers and a quick resolution soon.

That may not be possible in this case. If the Ford Dealer has already requested the file which requires the VIN number the OP may not be able to request another file for the same VIN number. The OP has not taken delivery of the vehicle yet which may mean he doesn't technically own it yet.

There is also the possibility that Ford could have tied Whipple's hands releasing files regardless of who is requesting it. I smell something fishy going on behind the scenes.

I own the vehicle. I have technically taken delivery even though I haven’t driven it home yet.
With Ford holding the car because of tuning I’m pretty sure I would be going around their current protocol and recommendation which most likely means the warranty would be voided. The whole reason I went stage 1 was to have a warranty even if it’s only a few thousand dollars.
I’m wondering if it has anything to do with catalytic converters melting as I’ve had Supercharged vehicles in the past and none of them like cats.

still they already installed it they should not have went this far if they were going to pull this. stage 1 you keep warranty i have it but i did not have a ford dealer install it and i could not do it myself and keep warranty as im not ase certified so i went to evolution performance.

but i pulled the cal and put the file on the sd card before i dropped it off and told them that part was done.

did you pay for the whipple kit yet?
if not go pay for it and then get your tuner and flash it

dont worry about the warranty thing as your warranty is not through ford now anyway its through whipple.
well unless you got the ford performance one and then this is even dumber they wont install a ford "tune" they are the same i know but you know corporate BS but yeah just make sure to register the warranty if its through whipple.

The way I understand it is they had the blower installed on Tuesday and the hold came down on Wednesday. I understand how the warranty works through Whipple but I would like to know the details of what Ford’s reasoning is before I do anything.
This is Lebanon Ford Performance shop in Ohio. They do 20 a month so I trust their work. Everything is paid for. The car, the blower, the exhaust, catch cans, half shafts, everything. I doubt she’ll even start without a tune so I’m sure they want it out of the way just as much as I want it in my garage.

i have heard some horror stories with wrong flashes auto to manual causing big issues

Wow

Lebanon is probably the biggest dealer doing Supercharger installs, they have made a a point of being able to sell you any 5.0 and putting HP on it. Even their website shows cars priced with and without the power adder.

So if anyone is going to get Ford's attention, or Whipple's it is going to be them.

This is going to get interesting

Did you also change the oil pump gearing?

They already are... but they all void the warranty provided by whipple/ford when you go with the stage 1 package, which is the whole reason OP bought his vehicle from the dealer he did.

You can't get an aftermarket supercharged tune yet though. Unless you're a local Guinea pig. They are just finishing them up for general sale right now.
