No offense man, but not everybody who stayed awake in Mrs. Callaway’s 6th grade English class is a bot. And yeah I realize that decent sentence structure and careful spelling makes you suspect on a forum but there you go. I’m guilty too. Maybe I’m a bot?

Now, as far as his dad, yeah maybe not the best judgement. But the son seems to be a good egg and I think he’ll learn from his mistakes. Provided of course he takes it easy and buys himself some time to do so.

I just wrote and spoke far ahead of my age and school grade. I'm sure now a days they'd be accusing me of using AI for my papers. Whatever. Very hard to tell without the AI slipping up. A lot of things, I hate to tell you, make AI undetectable. At least in certain areas and circumstances. I'm in IT Security for a living and have a lot of exposure to this. Very soon, we probably won't be able to tell AT ALL if something is AI generated. Not unless they make regulations and start enforcing some kind of digital marker to indicate AI generated content. It's coming. It's coming way sooner than you think. The progress and spread of AI in the industry so far is flat out stunning. I didn't think it would catch on like this and do so well and so much. But it is!

Back in the late 80's I was in a class learning how to write hardware hand loops for IBM processors.
I took a one question pop quiz which consisted of about 10 assembler level commands and the question was something like "find the wait state PSW".

The 10 commands were just BS with adds, subtracts, etc and it was designed to waste the student's time figuring all of this out. I quickly realized that and jumped to the appropriate instruction which did load the wait state PSW and completed the quiz before the instructor even finished handing out the test papers.

Of course he accused me of cheating because there was, in his eyes, no way I could have gone through all of those instructions, made the calculations wasting my time etc. I showed him how I did it and he backed off.

So I select Drag mode and it doesn't show traction control as off. The switch is still unlit. Is there something else traction related that Drag mode turns off and isn't indicated on the gauges or switches?

Now roll into the throttle. Try your best not to spin as you go from sitting still to moving, and roll into the throttle with an attempt to be full throttle after you are moving and see what happens.

Well, given the framing of your comment, I'd rather not! I'm just asking what it turns off that can do this versus Sport mode because I at least don't SEE the traction stuff turned off. I know there are two modes though and using the switch only partially turns it off unless you hold DOWN on the switch, which then disables it all? It's just a bit confusing. I thought traction control features were to AVOID this kind of behavior?

Track Mode is different again.

When you select Drag Mode, it neuters the traction control (it does not fully go away). I have confirmed in person that the rear tires of the car can get quite a bit out of its straight path in Drag Mode at full throttle already moving. This is to make sure that the car's computer is not hampering your acceleration when drag racing by cutting power to the engine. The shifts are hard.

Just like in Track Mode it neuters the ESC, allowing the car to be more aggressively driven off of the apex on a turn without cutting power.

Right...that's what I meant about holding it down. I've seen that. But does the "Track" mode do that somehow without displaying it on the gauges or the switch? That's my concern. It SOUNDS like you're saying that mashing the accelerator in TRACK mode will likely be more risky than in normal or Sport... I'm just trying to pin that down and why. Thanks!

Well, you will have a lot of fun. Just be smart. Go find a track or someplace you can safely push things a little without hitting a car, person or pole. Take some driving classes. they have some where you can take your car and do burnouts and stuff and they teach you.

I'm assuming you're a pretty smart, mature guy. Good. But still...really go slowly on pushing things. There really IS a benefit to having been driving for a few years. things will happen and you react to them and learn. I know you probably figure you know what you're doing and you may well. But still things happen and this is a hell of a monster car. So use those smarts. You'll be fine. Lucky you having this as a first. Back in the day, my first real car was a Shelby Daytona. LOVED that car, and it almost got me in serious trouble a few times. This Mustang is like 4-5 times more powerful. So just. be aware, even when you've driven it for a while and you feel a little bored! You'll be fine.

It's pretty sad when good grammar and sentence structure gets you accused of being AI. Then again, most car forums are full of people who can barely write a coherent thought, so I guess you are pretty suspicious...

Real or not, I'll play along. Hopefully now you get why you got so much grief the first time around when you introduced yourself. And hopefully you AND your dad have learned a lesson. I can excuse your naivety, but not his. Dad needs to do better.

I suggest you take your car to the track next time you decide you switch off traction control and f**k around. Learn to control the car when you push it and when it will break loose, and how to correct. I will add that those crappy tires did you no favors.

And for the love of God don't drag race on a public street again. Its a great way to wreck your car, kill yourself, or kill someone else. Don't be the next jackass mustang owner on tiktok.
