Ford's getting back into passenger cars

We'll see where this ends up going, or if it even impacts products in the North American market, but this news has made me cautiously optimistic. With Ford also saying how they want to revive things like the RS brand, I'm crossing my fingers we get a badass next gen RS hatchback or something.

With how hot 80s and 90s design is right now, getting a new hot hatch inspired by the escort whale tail would be awesome. Kinda like a blend of that design, and something far more radical with flared fenders and muscular proportions.

Something like that blue rendering but even better. Push the hood back, make it even sportier looking, blended with the insane stance of something like that yellow concept, it would look incredible, the kind of hatchback that blows you away in terms of how it looks and drives.

That's what I want to see if Fords gonna jump back into the hatchback/sedan scene, something that makes a grand entrance that says "I'm back bitches".

Yeah I think if they come out with a hot hatch again, to streamline stuff just reintroduce the Escort. Let Europe’s team design it and make it a global car like Australia did with the Ranger Raptor.

Ford with the RS was the only American manufacture to capture a piece of that import crowd like that. Would be cool to see it come back in some form.

Maybe start with a 2.3 for the higher performance mustang Ecoboost making maybe around 350 or so hp. Then on top of that, you could offer a 2.3 hybrid with over 400 hp.

Well hang on, if Ford was going to make a new performance hatch, they would most likely use C2, or CE1 as the platform for it. Those are both platforms designed with affordablity in mind. C2 is the overseas focus, escape, bronco sport, maverick, evos, overseas fusion, Lincoln nautilus, Lincoln zephyr sedan, and Lincoln Corsair.

It's a super versatile, capable platform that's been used on a ton of great affordable vehicles like maverick, and sportier hatchbacks like the focus st.

Then CE1 is a radically different different kind of EV platform where Ford rethought the entire EV development process after hiring the best EV and software engineers in the world to create affordable EVs that were actually profitable to make. In Ford's CEOs own words, their first gen EVs like the lightning and mach-e were great products, but ford lost billions on them. So they radically changed every aspect of how they developed their next generation EVs to make them profitable.

This EV platform will apparently be used on vehicles with a 30k starting price give or take, and can be used on up to 8 different body styles. So that platform could also be used as a cool base for a sport hatchback or smaller, more affordable coupe.

So there are lots of ways for Ford to pull this off without making a hot hatch that's insanely expensive.

After my experience with this Mustang, I could be interested in a new Focus, Escort, whatever for my wife. But all the stories of problems with the 3 cyl, DCT trans issues and the headgasket probs on the 2.3 does make you hold back a bit.

The DCT was dog shit for sure, thankfully that transmission is gone now. As for the head gasket issues on the 2.3 I looked into that because I want to get a focus RS, apparently it's a first year manufacturing error that was rectified with a recall and is no longer an issue.

Aren't we as car enthusiasts always asking for lighter, smaller, more affordable enthusiasts vehicles? Most cars like that have always had smaller engines, they make it up by being better handling than larger vehicles with more powerful engines.

Seriously, what is with all the negativity on this site lately, like good Christ lol. It feels like 80% of the posts I see are people bitching or complaining about one thing or the other.
