Steeda Tri-Ax race short shifter, and transmission bushing insert.

Has anyone had experience with Steeda's Tri-Ax Short Throw Race Shifter for MT-82, and the transmission mount bushing insert? Just would like to hear pros and cons on these performance parts. I've had nothing but good luck with Steeda Products.

On my 2013, I tried several fixes and ended up with not only replacing upper and lower shift mechanism, but one that mounts directly to the transmission.

My opinion, the shifter is way too much work for the gains. The bushing well worth the time and cost, super easy to install, lube is your friend. Upgrade to Amsoil DCT transmission fluid, and go have fun.

This is good to know. I've use their standard street Tri-Ax for Tremec , which I believe is the same as Ford's, with great results in Mach 1s, DHs, and GTs. No problems, but those are chassis mount. This model I'd call a hybrid Chassis/Transmission mount. I should investigate others. Plus this one the the most expensive at $629.

What is a good brand? I'm thinking if I use this, I may run into different problems. Maybe I should go trans mounted.

Mach 1 and DH have Tremecs so shifter sits on trans. GTs have MT-82. It's been a while, i used MGW, but Barton offers one as well, could be others now.

So with my 13 GT, things weren't too bad till I had it tuned and increased redline. Then I added supercharger and would lose 3rd gear gate depending on how aggressive I was driving. Woth my 19 GT i went A10 with paddle shifters and never miss a shift, ha, ha.

Ah. No wonder why I couldn't find an aftermarket Tri-Ax type for my DH. Guess I'll get a trans mounted unit for my GT. Just going to have to figure which brand.

While I use many Steeda products I Really wanted a trans mounted shifter. I am sure Steeda has done their homework but the MGW is the Holy Grail in shifters. Each step change from stock like fluid and bushings will improve but none will improve like the MGW. I did all the above on my 2011 even though I really didn't have issues with the Mt82. I wanted to see improvement with the changes to see if things could be better. I sold the stock sifter supper fast and was surprized that anyone even wanted it. With the MT82 you seem to get a good one or not. Ford has done imrovements with different Rev's. Many times its the operator that is the issue.

I heard before a certain year, maybe 2018/19, MT-82s had all kinds of problems. I've heard MGW is good. But the only products I'm familiar with are Steeda. Racers have recommended Barton. I've never seen MGW products in DTW Metroplex area. I have to rush a few things on my daughter's new commuter Mustang. Was going to get hers 6 speed, but for her commute and A10 is better. I seen one stock with a Borla Switchfire and was it quick. She has a FH Tremec, so an A10 commuter would be easier after a hard day. Has 3.55, got lucky. Most I see don't have that. Just looked them up. I wouldn't know which one to get. Four versions are available.

The Mr82 from 2011 forward had issues. Each Rev was better. Clutch and operator also played a big part. So many would jam and force things only making things worse like bending shift forks. Its no worse than other transmissions as they have also had issues. The MT82 is like a fine woman. It must be handled with care.

If I did go with an MGW Transmission mounted shifter, which model should I look into ? I'm not or would ever be a racer.

There are a couple of rebuild Mt82 companies that claim beefing and improving things. Mostly this is for hard core high HP applications. Do your homework going this route.

I will be going Procharger over Whipple. Don't need the power or weight of a Whipple. Won't be using too much boost either.

I went with the x-pec short throw. That is for 2011. Call George for later years. I'm not sure if they still do it but they would installed for free if you were in Gerogia. I'm in AZ and with a lift it wasn't bad. They have good install videos.
