I've owned two C7 Z06's. There is no comparison between the Mustang GT and the Z06. The Z06's were without a doubt the best bang for the buck cars I've ever owned.
I own a 09 c6 z06,it's a monster in stock form, add an aftermarket cam, headers, cai, mild ported heads and there stupid fast.
And all the coolers on it for a mild track car.
Best bang for the buck

Weelllll, anyone can say what they want but I had a C5 Z06 that would out run my new 2025, I'm pretty sure. It pulled ungodly hard from dead stop or rolling. It had a catback and minor edit that's all. It was rated at a stock 405hp and was about 700 to 800 pounds lighter than a GT which makes a LOT of difference. Chevrolet advertised a top end of 171 mph due to gearing (stock 350hp had a higher top end) and it would get there quick. It was tracked at Road Atlanta, Barber Motorsports, and Little Talledega so it and me had some experience.

That said, I got rid of it because it was a POS except for the engine and paint job. The paint job was a light year ahead of my race red GT sitting in my garage. Yep, Chevrolet did a good paint job back in the day. Ford has orange peel down to a fine art..... 🙄 FWIW.
Orange peel makes your car faster.
It's works like the dimples on a golf ball.
All true, I wouldn't lie.

I like the GT, but it doesn't even stand any chance against a Stingray. A comparison to a Z06 is just downright useless and any situation where the GT holds up it boils down to absolutely clueless drivers or faked results

I watched something on Youtub with a FerrarI SF90 and some Lambo racing a ZR1. Not knowing what a ZR1 was my gob was thoroughly smacked when the Corvette gapped both.
Then I heard about the 1064HP.
That's a ton of horsies though just the rear tyres.

I own both a 2023 C8 Z51 and a 2024 Mustang GT. I appreciate the positive attributes of each as well as accept their shortcomings. I enjoy them both immensely. I prefer to be an automotive enthusiast, open to experiencing what a car has to offer rather than a narrow minded make/model homer. If I had unlimited funds, I’d have a warehouse full of performance cars of many different makes and models, both domestic and foreign.

The rumor mill has it that a Corvette Zora model is in the works that will top the ZR1’s performance numbers. If you have the cash, these are good days to score some awesome performance cars from many different manufacturers.

could be driver, could be car. I got a wake up call when I first got into road racing.....got beat regularly by Miata's. they handled the twisties better than me being so light.
Don't feel bad about that, RLE55. I used to own a Miata (those slow "girl cars") and it was a terror in the sharp twisties. They are very light weight (approx. 2400# if I recall) and faster than one would think with not so much HP. They're also a wide car and the only decent tires that can be bought for them are pretty sticky ones.

Every track event I’ve been to, a Miata has always been one of the fastest cars, if not the fastest.
