What oil temps are y’all sering on the track under hard load?
I spent the weekend at COTA in Austin and was touching 260 degrees.
thought our oil cooler would do better than that…

Mine went up to 245 deg Fahrenheit while on Hockenheimring track.

But keep in mind that this depends highly on the track layout.

What was ambient? It was pretty warm last weekend- worse during the week but still. I didn’t get to pay as much attention as I wanted at track attack ; Charlotte, temps in the high 80s afternoon - maybe low 90’s... oil was low 200’s, and trans temps in the A10 were similar; 220s’.

I was in manual mode most of the time in Charlotte and spent quite a bit of time in the twisty section in either 3rd or 4th. How hard were you caning the transmission?

So I'm considering installing the Ford Oil Cooler kit because the Oil Temps are a bit troublesome to me. GT, Auto, 401a, Premium, cruising at 65 mph, no pulls, no A/C, ambient temperature was about 67 degrees F... This is what I'm seeing.. I'm using PUP and a Motorcraft filter and I always seems to be running 230-235. Would the Ford oil cooler help? What would be a fair price for a Mustang specialty shop to install? Thoughts? TIA...

it would help but you have to remember there is no real oil temp sensor its an algorithm

there have been some reports that adding the cooler to non oil cooler cars the temp does not lower as it does not know you added an oil cooler there maybe a way to update that in forscan or something but idk

the oil will be physically cooler but the computer won’t show the updated temps because the temps are estimated there is no oil temp sensor. I’ve added and enabled the oil cooler in forscan and still no luck getting the temps to show lower. The performance packs have a different pcm strategy. @Cool66 and I have been trying to figure this out for a little bit now but still no luck.

Mid 270’s oil temps after 20-30 minutes on track with ambient temps in the mid 90’s.

It still blows my mind that for a track focused trim they didn’t built it with a dedicated oil temp sensor. wtf!

what’s the difference in the PP strategy vs. DH?

Thanks for your feedback. Sounds like mine is in like.

are you running the factory 5w-30 or something different on the track? @Stang24 same question for you too.

PUP should be good for significantly more than temps in the 230's. What do you want your temps to be?

I'm running Motorcraft 5w-30 full synthetic. There are all kinds of opinions out there, but as best I can tell, the Motorcraft oil is a quality product, so I don't see a reason to go with something else because someone says it is better. I've also looked into going to a heavier weight oil for the track, but again I haven't found any definitive data which shows it is better in a stock Coyote.

I'm sorry, idk what PUP stands for?

as for temps, I’d prefer between 230-250 under hard load in high ambient temps.

Yeah same here. Done a lot of research and can’t find a reason to change weight yet. But next track session going into the summer here in TX with these temp I am strongly considering moving up to at least a 40 weight.
