Just sharing this for any others that are interested. I started talking to @PonyKing who developed an alternative to the DIYvan fender hole covers. He is from Germany but does ship to Australia for +- $150 AUD.
What kept me from buying the DIYvan kit was that I wasn't convinced about using the glue/JB-Weld method. It just felt a little hacky to me.
This install seems really simple to me and is 100% reversible. At the moment PonyKing is having some issues with his Mustang7G account. Hopefully sorted soon. In the meantime, you can email [email protected] if interested. I've ordered my kit and will post some photos and thoughts in my other thread (https://www.mustang7g.com/forums/threads/my-mustang-journey.164020/) when the product arrives and I install it.

** Edit **
I missed the existing Aussie thread on patching the holes which this should have probably been part of :

@bfets ..... your patch looks fine.....but there is absolutely no problem with the JB Weld. That product is super easy to use and will never let go. The material would let go some where else before the patch itself let go and the best part is that the DIYvan.com patch becomes part of the liner and comes off with it if the fender liner has to be removed. After a week or so of driving you can't even see where the patch is as road grime obscures the "fix". There are a dozen Mustang owners near me who have all used the DIYvan.com patch and everyone loves it. I have been using JB Weld for decades. It is one of the best mixed epoxies anywhere for marine, automotive even aircraft - never heard a negative report about it. Good luck with your choice - if it works anywhere near as well as Hein's (DIYvan.com) product you will be happy.

Oh I never doubted it will work. Many have used it with great success. I just prefer the more OEM look of a bolt on cover, rather than a glued on one. Its a good thing to have choice. Choose your poison.

While I like the idea of bolt on, I see a problem there. The water may still get to that hole if it is not sealer with a glue.

For those that want glue, get yourself the DIYvan one. Easy. Like I said, it's good to have alternatives.
The small amount of water that can get past that is no issue in my mind. I just want to keep sand, rocks and debris out, and I like the bolt on idea. OEM look. There are now cars leaving the factory with a covered hole as well. Those aren't glued either from what I could gather.

They look good - and they look a whole lot easier to fit than the DIYvan ones.
I've just ordered a set as well - he said he had a set ready, so was going to ship them tomorrow.

I'd be interested in that too depending on the price!

Yep. Ford fixed the issue. I'm just waiting for a part number so I can order it. I'd much rather use one screw than spend $100 on a JB weld patch kit.

@AZ_Ryan ....... wait for it - the price from Ford for the new kit. I would be very surprised if you get that for less than $100 .... and it's still a screw-on.

@Kaps ..... I agree 100% .....water WILL run down inside that patch if its not sealer and then run along the inside frame members. At least Ford has acknowledged the problem but the fix is IMO not nearly as good as DIYvan.com. $100 and 10 minutes a side. Inexpensive, fast and effective.......and - when I looked closer at the posted pictures there doesn't even seem to be an overlap - looks like an open seam. DITvan.com for me.

To quote @5.0ALM from the other Aussie thread about this:

"the bottom edge of the patch, it isn't glued to anything in the middle section - see the liner gap in the photos above!

There are many places for water to run out, and these patches are to stop debris being flung off the tyres and directly into the void.
"

So for those that want to turn their cars into watertight boats for some reason, you're going to need a whole lot more JB weld.

Dude. That panel isn't water tight, nor is it meant to be. Nothing you use will achieve that. You're way over thinking it. And if you think a $100 JB weld kit is inexpensive, god bless you.

@AZ_Ryan .....actually the DIYvan.com repair IS waterproof ......and "dude" $100 to prevent frame damage on a Mustang GT is worth every penny.....still waiting to see the cost of the new Ford repair.
