It's easy to lose a battery cover scrivet (screw rivet) down into the engine bay!
Avoid the temptation of the cheapies on the Chinese websites.



And, check your battery every now and then.
Being "out of sight, out of mind" can lead to problems.

Good comment, I've lost and found one. I keep them off nowadays. Once the battery cover is in the right position, I can't see it moving when the hood is closed

Ahhh, the infamous Mustang battery cover clips! Inevitably, we all lose at least one at some point, consider yourself a fully-fledged Mustang owner now.

This may or may not be obvious, but having a trim clip removal tool on hand isn't a bad idea. You still need to be careful, but the tool allows better control of the upward movement and allows you to properly grasp the fastener with your fingers. Mine are from Kincrome, but there are plenty of similar on the market.
