Front Fender line holes gone

That is the area where the hole used to exist. Looks like Ford has made a patch piece with the same material as the liner. I've circled the patch in the photo you uploaded.

I don't think it is a patch - just a bit that flips up on the line and is then bolted in place when the car has its own wheels

It never fails to astound me how people can pretend to speak with authority on a topic they have obviously done no research on and therefore haven't a clue what they are talking about. I have to presume that people keep posting this particular topic just for the fun of trolling for stupid answers that they can share with friends and family for laughs.

My car after a winter of salt and wet had minimal damage there and I have since treated the exposed metal and will monitor it. You belittled this on another thread because it doesn't fit with YOUR opinion.

I am speaking about MY car, MY experience and MY evidence, so I can speak with authority on the subject!

in ny a car is lucky to last 10 years in the salt if you dont wash it off but in nc they probably don't use much salt

makes you wonder if the salt is worth it all the damage it does to cars and infrastructure
vs people just buying a set of winter tires

i don't drive my DH in the winter and have nokin hakkapeliitta r5s for my winter car
i still wash the salt off my other car its now 18 years old

UK uses plenty of salt and I daily my car. My S550 at 6 years old had very little corrosion underneath and I did nothing to it. Our cars do get underseal applied, not sure if US cars do?

no we dont get that in the usa
have to go aftermarket for that here

@GrabberB ..... respectfully, your comment shows a lack of education on this topic. You might be slightly better off in Virginia but costal owners and owners where salt/brine is used on the roads will see an immediate problem as has been shown repeatedly.

Respectfully, I have no idea what you're talking about. My comments were about the need to cover the holes. Maybe I don't get it due to my lack of knowledge on the subject. It's a hole that is problematic and should be covered to avoid issues. How much knowledge does one really need to understand that.

Edit add - For what it's worth. I covered my holes with the DIY Van fix with 50 miles on the odometer. Why? Leaving the holes open will cause issues down the road. How long will it take IDK nor does anyone for that matter. For most it will be a long time before major issues happen.

Not to prolong this thread any further, but I took care of my Fender well hole problem today. I used a tape called T-REX, which is quite durable. They claim it is ferociously strong! It is made by Shurtape. I have used it for a couple of years on the electrical receptacle for my towing hitch to keep out the elements. In that use, I didn't have much of a longevity test because I would have to remove it every time I needed to tow. For the fender wells, it will be in place much longer. I will tell you that this tape will stick extremely well, but I'll have to see what happens long term. Anyway, I have some pics which show the tape. The wheels are fully turned, so the tape shows, but when the wheels are in a normal position, it is very difficult to see the tape. . Glenn

@fishinrich ..... you won't have to wait 50 years. Probably two years will show damage concerns. With those holes right behind the front wheels dirt, stones and in some places salt will be fired at high speed right down the inside of the underbelly pads. As my Mustang tech - who owns a supercharged Mustang - said, not only that but a lot of those areas are real close to extremely hot exhaust components that will radically speed-up the corrosion to critical parts. I just don't get some owners who seem to brag that they aren't afraid of some rust. For $100 and 30 minutes of time I find that sort of answer ..... well, readers can fill-in their version of the word stupid. Watch Tony Unica's video. BTW he builds Mustangs from the stamped forms that he purchases from Ford you can see some of the body panels in his video. He has forgotten more about Mustangs that most people on this forum will ever know. Respectfully, help your Mustang - educate yourself and spend a flippin' 100 bucks on the fix or at least do what @glenng6 did....hats off to his creative solution. Hope it lasts. If not I'm sure he'll re-do it.

Sir, no one is saying they are OK with rust lol. Like @GrabberB said, It's a hole that's easily covered. There's no need to get on your soap box and talk down to everyone about it. As far as I know, there are at least 3 separate threads on this and one is 39 fricking pages long. This has bean beat to death. Hence my comment on people being obsessed. Can we move on now?

No. I was balancing my checkbook, and the idea came to me. So I told my wife I’d be back. I just did a quick and dirty to see if it is a viable solution. I know every time I had to take the tape off my electrical socket for my trailer hitch, it always looked like I just put it on. As you can see in the photos, I didn't even trim anything to make it look better. I figure by the end of the summer, I will have a better idea of what to do. If anything, I will probably sandwich some plastic sheet between two layers of the tape. This tape is quite thick and unbelievably strong, so I wait and see. My car has only been wet four times, including three hand washes and a sun shower, so I'm not worried about water getting in. I did check for stones doing the reliable trick of banging the sill with my hand, and there was no response from anything bouncing. Glenn

Do you really think blocking this single hole will help things?

I am from NJ so I know what salted roads are like and filling this single hole will not help the longevity of your vehicle but thank you for this information Ken.

He seems to be forgetting there is a load of unprotected metal under the car, admittedly the floorpan is undersealed in the UK. Mine went through it's first salty winter with minimal damage and I have treated it for the future and will keep an eye on it.

If you don't agree with him you are wrong unfortunately! I know a few other people like that!
