Next step, go to another dealer.

For SURE!!!!!!! Go to another dealership and ask them would they like to do any warantee work if needed and maybe a few oil changes

Agreed. I just didn't want to bother as my free time is limited. That dealer lost my business.

@steveo1960 ..... respectfully do not mess with this. It is so easy to crack the windshield or damage any of the sensors in the glass. Your dealer might not even touch it and just send you with a W/O to a specialty glass shop. Yes, you could try heating the glue and removing it and then re-gluing but I that would make you far braver than me.

As far as I'm concerned, this is a safety recall issue. If enough folks have the problem, the NHTSB will investigate the issue. The NHTSB does have both a hot line and an on-line complaint form.

Not an issue as long as both side mirrors are in place.

Believe it or not, passenger cars are dictated by NHTSA regs to have 3 rear view mirrors. Some vintage cars are exempt, but not modern ones.

You try driving your car without that rearview mirror and tell me how that goes. I didn’t realize how important it was until it broke. I can’t even drive my car until it’s fixed. I don’t know who’s behind me or if someone might be coming up too fast and I need to get out of the way. I can’t really move through traffic like I usually do because I can use my side mirror and rearview mirror to determine how much time and room I have to change lanes.

Yea my dealership did the same. Insurance covered it 100% and I took it to a local mom and pop shop that has been in business for many years and where the high end dealers send their cars. I called around to various Ford, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche dealers and asked and every single one recommended the same shop.

So the new windshield comes with the circuit board behind the mirror already attached as well as the little mount for the mirror. Glass place has to transfer over the camera and rain sensor and run the calibration. It's been perfect since.

FWIW the glass place told me they have seen the same thing on Ford trucks but not on a Mustang.
Make sure you get an OEM part.

I noticed the same thing.
It's like when you injure a finger and can't use it until it heals. You quickly learn how much you actually need all your fingers.

Wasn’t attempting to indicate potentially not difficult, was noting not required in order to qualify as a safety issue as related to operational rules.

edit: usually at a minimum, one and one or two and none are ok to drive.

They’re scheduled to come to my house tomorrow to replace and calibrate the new windshield, which my insurance is covering. I pay them every month for insurance, so the least they can do is replace it. I wouldn’t consider replacing it with nothing other than the OEM windshield, the cost $1000 in total for everything.

Oh, okay, I understand what you mean. In order for them to be required to conduct a safety recall, yeah it’s an unfortunate situation.

I did the same last year when mine failed. I was on the highway at 65 mph, went to adjust the mirror and ended up holding it my hands. Not to mention glass chards all over the place.

Make sure you get the same glass with the sound proofing or whatever it's called. Look over on the driver's side to see if you have it.
