Probably an old question, but if I buy a set of wheels and tires on the forum here complete with the tpms in them, when i put the new set on my vehicle, will it sync right up or does it need to be programmed or something?

The TPMS will need to be programmed to the vehicle every time you change wheels with different TPMS sensors. You can buy the TPMS tool from Amazon for around $30-35. Plenty of YouTube how to videos on the process with the tool in hand.

I have not done a Mustang TPMS yet, the new ones are 433 Mhz (IIRC)
and it is usually 10 years before I start seeing them in the shop

There is a relearn procedure that you can do but it requires a cheap reset tool, which used to be a Motorcraft TPMS-19, but again that worked in the 315's I don't know if it will trigger the 433's

The relearn procedure IS NOT he same as the one you use when you rotate the tires.

Motorcraft has 4 sensors and a tool PN M-1180-433mhz2, so maybe @LevittownFordParts can look at the parts list for that PN and tell us what the Motorcraft PN is for the 433 sensor trigger is.

The old TPMS-19 tool works for the newer TPMS sensors just fine... Some have stated that the new sensors worked automatically, but I cannot confirm this.

if putting take off wheels/tires from a 2024 gt to a 2025 ecoboost, will they just relearn on their own, or do i have to get a programmer and reprogram it?

reprogram, you have to get the sensor ID's into the body control module.

I THINK the PDF I posted above is valid for the 7G mustangs so if you have the TPMS-19 tool which is not a lot of money (so buy a genuine Motorctaft one trust me) it is easy to initialize sensors into the BCM

For some reason Ford is not listing the instructions as a hyperlink on the parts page.

Hey disneyfun1 ,

You would have to program them to your vehicle with the TPMS-19 tool.

Hey @LevittownFordParts has the Ford part number changed for that TPMS-19?

One of the old PN's I have is 8c2z1a203a, but I have 2 of them here that have AB as the suffix.

I see CJ is listing the TPMS 19 as covering from 2007 , the first year of TPMS in the Mustang with those &*&* band clamp units to 2025 model year

And for my fellow owners, the reason you want one of these tools is because when you rotate the tires, you have to tell the computer which tire is where once they have been moved around the car, otherwise the BCM when it sees a low pressure will tell you it is the LF because that was the last place it was told the tire was mounted, but you've moved without giving it a forwarding address.

Without going thru the tire rotation sequence, the display will not show you the correct position of the tire on the car after they have been rotated.

After some reading up it seems the trigger tool is a low frequency device that wakes the sensor up, I have also seen it done with a magnet. So if the low frequency trigger is the same on the 315 and 433 sensors, that is why it will work on both. The trigger tool does not broadcast at 315 or 433 to wake it up

if you are changing the pressure you run for some reason, or a different tire that wants a lower TP, you got to tell the BCM what the pressure should be otherwise if it is set for 35 and you run at 32, chances are you are going to be getting a lot of notifications since the BCM alerts trigger at about 3 PSI below the setting. There is a button under the dashboard to do that change

You can thank Ford, Firestone, and the late 90's Ford Explorers for all this BS BTW. It all goes back to the Explorers using a real low tire pressure, and when they lost more than a couple of PSI the Explorers would roll over after the tire let go.

Hey Neggytive,

So what i can tell both 8C2Z-1A203-A and TPMS-19 are the same thing but one is a motorcraft number and one is essetinally an OEM part number but are the same device.

I had a new Ford TPMS installed on a wheel by the dealer. I installed the wheel on my DH Premium myself without progra.ming and my car recognized it all by itself. So who knows.
