If I had to guess it has some kind of aftermarket equipment installed by the dealer to cause the higher price

Maybe but, not 18000 worth. It's not the only dealership asking stupid money on a 24. Maybe has to do with delays on a 25? I love my car but it's not a 60000 plus vehicle.

About right for an RTR, the Stage 3 with supercharger is a $29,995 add to the base car.

If you financed that car for 72 months with taxes would be close to 100000 + For a Mustang. To me that is crazy. My bad lol. I guess it's relevant in this world.

Likewise, jimbo. I wanted a '24 from the minute I saw one, but took me a while to come to grips with the pricing. I finally ordered a base GT with 10 speed and spare tire, and my D plan price was $41,050 on a $45,500 sticker. Its a job 1 car. One of the young techs I work with just bought a base GT, 10 speed was the only option and his D plan price was $43,500 for a job 2 car.
There were lots of things I wanted, but with all the good stuff being part of a "package" that added $3-5K, well I just could not do it. I could have afforded it, but I didn't want to afford it if that makes sense.
And for '25, all of them are up $5K over the exact same car from last year, based on my fooling around with the online car builder. And that is allowing for the 10 speed no longer being a $1,595.00 option.
But I see thm flyhing off the lot here every day, we just got tweo Dark Horses, one ws a customer order, the other was stock and went out 2 days later with a $10K markup over the $71k stikcer price. Same with the two Raptor R's that we got, sticker plus $10K.

I just can't stomach an $800-$1,000 monthly payment, regardless of whether I have the $ or not. Mine is $650/mo for 48 months,I put a lot down. and pay extra on it every month. I hate car payments!

It's all relative, especially when rates are/were down in the 1.xx% range. That's almost like using someone else's money for free. If you are/were able to invest the money (that you could have used to pay cash for the vehicle) into something that earns MORE interest than what you're paying on the vehicle (that isn't too risky, like a CD), that's a plus as well.

Where folks get into trouble is financing a big number without having the means to pay it off immediately in the event of an emergency.

A lot of great financial advice on a car forum. Hope you all are passing that on to your kids and grand kids - it will make their lives a whole lot better. My grand dad did that for me, taught me banking and investing at every Sunday dinner for several hours from the time I was 10 to 14. I could tell you how soon an amount of money would double at any percentage point from one to twenty......oh..... btw back then, the only calculator was between your ears. Ha Ha.
