Hey hope all is well, was there a resolution to this? Same thing is happening tomorrow Darkhorse with roughly 800 miles on it. It went away for a day then came back. Really bizarre. Just dropped it back off at dealer service. They already re tightened the entire suspension at around 400 miles when I first started getting that thunking sound.
Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

Just curious, I get it when I hit the same bump in the morning right down the street. Then it goes away. First mustang with magnaride. Doesn't happen when I'm driving around the rest of the day?

Going good bro, hope you’re doing well too. They have changed a bunch of stuff on the car but nothing changed really and don’t have any other car to use when I take to them so I thought I will just hold off for a minute snd see if someone comes up with solution.

My cluck came back at ~2800 miles and after a 300 miles it went away again. Very annoying. In my case, I'm wondering if it could be related to the transmission shfting pattern that happens to create a mechanical resonance.

Is there a way to suspend the transmission learning algorithm adapting to your driving characteristics and stay as is?

Hello everyone, Dark Horse owner from Dubai here. I have a Dark Horse that has a similar noise as the one described in this thread. A few thing I can add to the conversation are that I have a good idea on where the noise is coming from. Firstly I noticed that my noise also happens during light breaking/downshifts/Switching to R after D so this leads me to believe that it is related to the service bulletin Ford had for the previous Mustang. I will be going to my local dealer soon to talk to them about it but I am pretty sure that it's the one I think it is. Hope this helps someone in the future.

This is what i am observing from the various complaints and threads covering this topic.

It sounds like a problem others are having with the transmission output shaft flange. When there is a change in motion between the driveshaft and the trans, the flange on the back of the trans can make a noise due to tolerances in the splines on the trans output shaft and flange. Some have said grease fixes or at least reduces clunk. Other say flange needs to be replaced.

Any thoughts? Not sure if this is an A10 or DH only issue. I have an A10 DH.

The solution is already said in other topics.
Including my own dark horse that had the same problem. I have a shop +20years the first thing i did is what another member said and grease the splines.(hé had the same problem)and i could'nt isolatie the sound. after that no noise. If you stille searching for an official tsb again good luck with that. I already contacted Ford Belgium and for them it's normal they have it with the f150 etc.. And just send customers home with the answer it's normal! Of course we find it not normal and did the search etc... The solution is already given it just depends how much you want to listen. I even gave the part nrs etc.

A dealership in North Carolina called Liberty Ford kept my vehicle for 3 months almost and they finally figured out what this issue is, I'll be posting the paperwork and hopefully it helps you guys. Plus actually having the same issues and it was frustrating because nobody could figure it out. It's actually really simple and it's kind of hidden and funny. But I got you guys and it's not a big deal. At least I don't think so

I hope this helps brothers I was patient and worked with them! If you live close to Liberty Ford, NC. Please bring your vehicles here. They really take care of it. The highlighted portion is what they did to fix the issue.

Real tough diag there. Maybe it took a long time but the dealer stuck with it and solved the problem. Many dealers would claim it's normal and send you on your way... Glad you got it fixed and thanks for posting the actual fix as it will help others with the same/similar issue... We all learn from other's experiences.

The Ford dealership in Lumberton North Carolina kept my vehicle for a week, didn't work on it told me I had aftermarket suspension and they can't fix it, I said aren't you supposed to go through a procedure? They said take your vehicle and leave we don't want to fix it then we're not going to fix it. They pretty much told me to leave before they call the cops 😂 I even have to go to the back where they keep your vehicles in the locked area and grab it myself... I'm telling you bro. You're right, it's hard to find dealerships like this. I remember when I visited Liberty Ford and I went to the back and I saw the vehicle pretty much in pieces, the mechanic looked at me and said I'm going to find this issue... And he did. I didn't pay a single cent and a vehicle was covered by Ford. If you guys are close I recommend this dealership. Again, I hope this helps. I almost sold my vehicle because I thought it was really really messed up.

I also have the same problem and found this on another thread . Mine is booked in for its first service so I'm hoping these examples make it easier to solve. Thanks for sharing your inspection report as I'm sure I would have been told its normal or possibly changed a heap of different parts and not solved the problem

This is how my car was fixed. I also found this file online which is a Ford Technical Service Bulletin from 5 years ago. Seems Ford has long been having the same issue with the 10R80 transmission. Wondering why this issue happens and after all the years the problem still exists and Ford can't fix it before the cars get out of the factory.
