I bought the 6 year 75,000 mile extended warranty for $2,000 and the maintenance package for $2,400 (6 years, 60,000 miles, oil change every 5,000 miles, full synthetic). I usually don't buy extended warranty or maintenance plans, but the 0% for 30 months plus the peace of mind convinced me. The maintenance plan includes 12 oil changes. My local Ford dealer charges $160 for full synthetic. $160 x 12 = $1,920 so I figured all the extra stuff the maintenance plan comes with was worth the extra $500. Did I just waste money???? ‍

depending on where you're at, oil changes can be a lot less than 160

Not in good old southern California. Nothing cheaper than about 150 for full synthetic.

I meant if you just get the oil and bring it to any oil changer. I live in California as well and got Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Full Synthetic 5W-30 on amazon for cheap and got my local mechanic to do it for $110 total with labor and the oil. So you can save a good amount of money on every change just for the oil in addition to labor costs they would probably charge. In general, dealers will upcharge on both the synthetic oil and labor even with the maintenance/warranty plans. But if it gives you ease of mind, then more power to you

My dealership offers a 15 year/150,000 mile powertrain warranty. The caveat is that you have to have all maintenance done at their dealership, or at an authorized Ford Service Center. They also participate in the new Ford Mobile Service Program. I purchased the warranty and maintenance package. I traded my old daily driver because I was tired of throwing wrenches at it every other week after spending 8 hours a day throwing wrenches at airplanes.

So, if I need service, I schedule it and they come to my work, pick up my car, leave me a loaner, fix or service whatever needs fixing or servicing, and bring my car back when they are done.

Wow! Do I have the mobile service as party of my programs?

You would have to contact your dealer and ask. Not all dealers participate, and there is usually a mileage restriction for how far they will go.

That is a little steep, though if you use it, pays for itself. In so Cal probably a good deal for ya.

Yes some Ford dealerships offer the mobile service where they will pick up the car (no thanks) some can do an oil change and tire rotations on site.

If you did your own oil changes it would probably cost half that. And you would know it was done right.

Full synthetic oil change $54.88 in Walmart Burbank, CA.
https://www.walmart.com/cp/oil-change-service/3304723

12 full synthetic oil changes plus 12 rotations plus 2 air filters and 3 cabin filters = $900.

The $2400 plan appears high even if scheduled maintenance service is done at the dealer and not Walmart.

However, the $2000 warranty is a very good investment for 6 years of stress free ownership including car rental if the car is ever staying overnight in the shop. It is very common to wait up to 2-3 weeks for backordered electronic modules or sensors these days. Ford normal warranty does not cover rental, only the extended one.

I don't think I'd ever take my car to Walmart for an oil change. I was planning on taking it to the dealership regardless.

@JAM486HP .... right on. My dealership knows that NO one is to be in my Mustang without either me or the service manager (my friend in it). I can't count the number of knuckleheads from dealerships I see shuttling cars and driving them like the state police were a block away.

You have a lot of faith in your dealership. You can take it to anywhere for less cost

Sometimes you just want piece of mind and you want things done as easy as possible. The dealer can do everything you will need so it is one place for all the car needs and they will have all the records your car. Even if it cost a little extra, if it works for you then I say you are good to go. Besides, who knows what an oil change will cost in 6 or even 3 years. I also think it is okay to pay a premium if it makes your life easier.

Other people love doing their own work, know the local mechanic, or they got a “guy.” And if that works for them and they can save some money, hey good for them as well.
