Before I go shitting out $2500 clams for headers can some folks who have them put my mind to ease - or not ...?

Other than the miserable install, do these ...

1. Throw codes
2. Rattle or bang against anything in the engine bay (because of the extraordinarily close fit)
3. Warp or Twist over time
4. Actually add HP - I personally don't believe or listen to big selling vendors when they preach their shit - they are selling them for profit, and are salesman and pretty much all salesman LIE
5. Or anything else I haven't thought about

I’ve had them on non S650s and they do add power. Typical gains are 15-30whp. That’s a real thing. Installed properly, with lock washers if you choose, won’t rattle. You might get rattle at the collector flange, where the headers are clasped to the mid-pipe, but that can be fixed by re-torquing the bolts after a few heat cycles. Then you’ll not get any rattles or vibrations.

I can’t answer the other questions accurately.

Get them coated …. Coated and catted and no codes but and although wasn’t installed on the s650. I’m unable to confirm s650 fitment and can’t say what kinda gains but i can confirm the heat reduction and preservation of appearance is true as a result of jet-hot coating.

there is an upstream sensor and a downstream sensor.

there is a tolerance in milliseconds from the front sniff to the rear sniff, to acknowledge the correct delay trough the stock headers and cats.

when you switch to LTs, the exhaust gas travels at speed outside factory specs, triggering codes.

if you get a code it's because the cats aren't working like the stock ones. Not the transport delay.

not that you can do anything about it without tuning anyway

I was watching Jake's video on his 2024 Dark Horse and he installed the following with no codes.

I think he got the Green Light Flow cats too cause these can no longer run catless.

PART: Kooks 1 and 7/8 with High Flow Green Cats
URL: Lethal Performance by Kooks 1-7/8 Headers & Competition Only Connection Kit

I've been putting a build together for myself so am paying attention to this stuff. Not gonna do a Supercharger on my S650.

I can't speak to the 24, but I had Kooks green catted headers on my 15 GT and they did not throw any codes or cause any issues for state inspections (they hook up to the OBD port in my state). They sounded amazing, but beware that they do increase the volume quite a bit. Fitment was spot on and I never had any issues with them whatsoever. Install wasn't really difficult, per se, just very tedious.

I spoke in haste; I contacted Jake who told me he DOES get a CEL light but that it doesn't impact his driving.

I believe he's using these: Kooks 1-7/8" SS Headers & GREEN Catted Connection Kit (2015-2024 Mustang GT & Dark Horse 5.0L) - 1151H432 (lethalperformance.com)

I saw another video for Coyote Direct who installed the same headers on a S650 GT and he didn't mention any codes so I reached out to them to ask the same question.

Before I order from the fine folks at Lethal (and my cart is fat) I would love to make sure that this wouldn't be an issue. There are cops up here that will pull you over for a loud exhaust and then check to see if anything is wrong with the computer; if they see a code instant fine.

Good afternoon,

1. Any aftermarket header with or without cats may throw a code.

2. There should be no rattles when installed properly, these are built on a jig and are engineered to clear the steering column.

3. While I have never seen Kooks headers twist or warp, even if they did, all Kooks products carry a lifetime warranty.

4. Headers do increase power, especially in boosted applications. On a stock car with the stock tune, do not expect a huge increase in power. I'd say they are good for 10-20 wheel on an NA application.

5. Catless headers will result in a huge increase in sound. If you already have some kind of straight-through muffler, the vehicle will be incredibly loud. Catted will still be louder than stock.

If you want off-road, we have our Lethal by Kooks headers for $1700 shipped right now. If you want catted, we will not be beat in pricing on Kooks.

Check yo DMs lol I spent the morning loading up my Lethal cart.

Just waiting to get that forum code (if you guys have one) as well as confirming how to clear the CEL if it occurs. Jake's DH got it from the Kooks LTH w/ GREEN high flow and another channel did too.

THe other channel said they found a way to clear it so am waiting to get that good news and then pull the trigger. Assuming ya'll ship to Canada :)
