Wow…. I did similar with my sill plates

So do the sill plates you installed offer decent protection against scratches or are they mainly for looks? Do they just glue or tape right on?

Some people thinking the interior was going to be luxurious 🤔 I'm surprised it even had an interior tbh. It's a racecar lol

Right I was expecting bare metal, wire bundles and a sick ass race seat…

Probably could’ve been 400lbs lighter still.

my sill plates have an adhesive and just stick on over where it said mustang.
I have no issues with scuffs but I get in and out with great care

I'm not sure "luxury" is the right word.

This is a full-on race car for the road. I wouldn't expect there to be niceties all throughout a la DH Premium; I was expecting something more like fully carbon seats with padding, alcantara everywhere instead of leather, the handbrake to not only carry over from the EB PP/GT PP/DH but to also receive an unhealthy dose of carbon, as well as a demonstration of color customization on the inside where it's not a high-end composite. You know... like what Porsche did with the GT3 RS/GT2 RS, or what Ferrari does with its specialty models.

What we're seeing here... is what I'd expect for the GT500/equivalent. Not for the GTD, which is going to people who probably make enough money to buy 10 of these...

But again - way, way, way out of my tax bracket, so I won't complain. 😅

surprised nobody has pointed out what looks like a suspension and exhaust mode button on the steering wheel, right where the adaptive cruise distance adjustment and speed limiter toggle would normally be. guess that means no adaptive cruise control. also not sure how to feel about the lack of a drift brake, seeing as even the "track ready" Dark Horse has it. those paddle shifters are just no. the dial shifter is whatever, but the surround is just terrible. also, the trim is much like a 100/101A and 300/301A car, black vents and dash trim, but chrome cupholder trim. fully manual seats without heating and cooling too. as awesome as the GTD looks outside, the inside is a total letdown. such a shame

How many racecars have superchargers ? None and that for obvious reasons...So the interior should have been super special covered in leather with brushed aluminum parts and some real dash with analog gauges instead of the cheap and generic looking touchscreen...I mean these cars will be $500K to the few who will collect them...I wonder if a Ford executive looked at what Ferrari or Lambo offer for less money ? And I dont even talk about interior design or materil but also technology like AWD,hybrid power or rear mounted engine...As it is the GTD should be $125 max OTD....A manual would have been nice too and a n/a version for people who actually want to go racing and not spend most of their time in the pits fueling...

The drift-brake is a missed opportunity, given you can option it all the way down to the 100A Ecoboost. Feels like they'd want to include it in the halo version.

Looks excellent. I'm glad Ford did not whore itself out to the whims of fashion leather alacantara and carbon fiber interior trim bullshit.
The GTD is like the Ferrari of old. It doesn't care about the human buying it or driving it. It only exists for performance. If you want creature comfort there's Infiniti or any one of the other nondescript soulless brands. I'd get a GTD over any recent Italian or (lolll!!!) German offerings. Farley has vision...and a full order book.

Actually I like the GTD interior upgrades. Don’t want too much adding to the weight. No need to wrap the interior in 15 lbs of leather, etc. even the seats look like lightweights from what I can see.

but those sill plates…

wish they had something like the 2016 gt350 sill plates. They had killer design and looked really special.

the “Ford Performance” ones just look like they were bought at Walmart.

I think Ford wants the GTD seen actually going fast and handling extremely well.

the drift brake thing can be what ecoboost owners, Nissan x owners, and civics do for fun.

the GTD will be busy crushing tracks and possibly drag strips that lesser cars, even lesser mustangs could only dream of.

That's precisely the reason you'd think they'd put the drift brake in the halo car. More people seeing that drift brake in the dream car equals a higher Performance Package take rate on "lesser" Mustangs.

drift brake doesn’t mean performance. Your car isn’t handling better or going faster. It’s just a thing some folks get into. I think the demographic that will buy the GTD wouldn’t be drifting. They’ll be going fast and tackling corners instead of skidding around them. The Gtd has added all this downforce to hold traction. Sifting/purposely losing traction sounds antithetical. And I’m sure the last thing Ford needs is for their hot new number to show up plastered all over the news because some INEXPERIENCED folks with too much money thought they’d be cool and drift and end up crashing the car. Then all anyone would be thinking is “300k for a car that can’t stick to the road.” LOL

Just my 0.02. You’re certainly passionate about it and I’m sure there are others, but are you buying this car?

I didn’t mean “lesser” as a dig, btw. Pretty much ALL Mustangs, GT500 class included are less than this thing. For now.

Same kinda thought - sill plates should say gtd front and center. They should light up and play music (programmable of course - select your fav track for each time you open the door - oh wait getting sidetracked). Not really seeing much of a difference other than flourish.
