Did your memory fail you already? I shouldn't need to do this.

Post #20. You stereotyped all the younger generations ("kids") as not being able to be trusted to test drive a (your) sports car.
How’d the younger get in there?

A dealer, whether it's smart business or not, owns the cars and can make whatever decision they want about test drives, sitting in, or touching the cars. How many threads are on the forum with people losing their minds because a new car has more than 5 miles at delivery?

That said, if you can't get a dealer to let you drive a car, you may very well suck at car shopping.

You may not agree but it helped my sale.

There are a lot of factors but I appreciated the dealer not allowing test drives. This dealership did not add markup to cars and went under msrp....which is the best of all worlds in my opinion.

Again...Kept the car in the newest possible form, held to their loan numbers, no markup and under msrp.*

That's more respectable then other shady dealers. So there is some give and take.

My car was in the showroom with very very low miles and that helped sell the car to me. I wasn't losing my mind....I wanted very low miles and got it.

You can always find a dealership for test drives so if one says no.......go to another dealership, set aside your ego and get the best deal even if that means going to the dealership that rejected you.....you can set aside your hurt ego to save money.

Or shop somewhere else....we all vote with our wallet.

In the end the dealership makes the rules. So if a dealership is thriving and not allowing test drives that means there is a market for it. This isn't a new concept

Btw Ford was doing this for the FocusRS in 2015/16.....Toyota dealerships are doing this with the GR cars, Subaru dealers were doing this wth the WRX. Ask me how i know (rejected)

Yes, you missed my point. Twice now.

A car salesman sells cars to earn a living and make money for the dealership owner. He gets paid to do this. He doesn't have the luxury to stereotype potential customers. Not only is he risking losing a sale, he's risking losing his job ... and even risking making his employer incur legal expenses for a lawsuit.

Selling an otherwise unnecessary vehicle via private sale carries absolutely none of those worries. I could have it crushed if I so chose to do so.
Road Pilot. You missed my point completely. TRUST is my point. Not selling a car or being a dealer. The dealer has trust issues (along with an outdated mindset). Again, I agree with you. I spent a great deal of time in customer service and this type of thinking is pathetic. I would be filleted if I did this and I would fillet someone who did this to me.

By the way. If you haven't post a picture of your 'stang.

I look at this both ways.
I have seen dealerships that don't allow test drives no matter what car you drive up in. It is their car and they have that right.
You also have the right to go buy a car at another dealership.

I have bought a few cars without a test drive but they were all ordered.

For some, no explanation is needed. For others, no explanation is possible.

Maybe spend a less time posting and a little more time reading. I've posted a bunch.

Yo!! You guys hijacked my thread. 🤣🤣🤣

That's because roadpilot is not a salesman I think, because he needs to repeat it like a parrot in every comment.

Also because roadpilot makes it a sport to win every argument and that leads to hundreds of comments just to win the conversation.

But in other threads he says to another guy that he has many comments because he is helping the forum in a positive way.

Dude is delusional 😂😂😂😂

I seem to have had the opposite experiences... I am usually the one refusing the test drive... lol. Must be only high pressure salesmen around here.

I don't think any dealer should allow anyone to test drive any specialty vehicle.

Most people that want to “test” drive aren’t serious buyers and for those that are serious they aren’t going to want to lay down the big bucks for a molested model anyway. I know I wouldn’t.

Seriously, how many people test drove the model they ordered before they ordered it?

Look at the grind Ford is making potential buyers go through to get the GTD. How many of these people had a chance to “test” drive it?

If you’re a buyer that insists on a “test” drive, just be aware that there is also a buyer that doesn't. A considerate dealer has absolutely nothing to worry about. 😏
