There are lots of videos of the whipple stage 1, stage 2, and roush supercharger, but all they do in the videos is run them on dyno. Are there any videos with actual track results such as 0-60, 0-100, and quarter mile results for the Whipple stage 1? I could care less about videos of people running them in the dynos because they are skewed results. Real world performance is what really matters.

:crackup: Laughing because it is a dyno result when the OP asked for anything but dyno results, but . . .

at the risk of dragging this thread off topic, they used octane boost and still got only 629 horsepower?????

:shock:

Just more info about the previous video I linked where the 1/4 mile numbers weren't that great

I like how the host wanted to lean the car out to .85....

a whole can of torco would take 91 octane gas up to 95-105 octane depending on how much gas was in the tank...

I think the stage 1 tune is the big reason it only made what it did. Less timing and less rpm

But the stage 1 is advertised at 810, and

they tested it in seventh gear.

629 at the wheels is not 810 at the flywheel

If your octane is correct, then that was not holding them back

So about leaning the car out, Whipple said that running rich was intentional to save the catalytic converters. They do have to warranty this setup. Nevertheless, the 810 hp is advertised as the result with the setup just the way it is, rich and all.

Obviously, custom tuning, you can do what you want, but no custom tuner is going to pay you for new catalytic converters.

For the rest of you, .75 is rich, in old fogey talk it would be 11.0 : 1

.85 leans it just a bit to 12.5 : 1

These are compared to 1.0, which is 14.7 : 1

Yes, that would make more power, but then we are not running the Whipple Stage 1.

Maybe we need more folks checking up on advertised power numbers. Dyno results from the folks making money off of selling and installing them may not be the most reliable.

Now, switching gears to the e.t. video, the 0-60 and quarter mile are disappointing, too, and, of course, not reflective of a true 810 horsepower at the flywheel (which the dyno proved).

You don't want to run a supercharged car at 12.5:1

So your comment was sarcastic?

Most of us are not tuning Whipple supercharged cars and have no idea to have even caught on to your comment. Sorry.

UPDATE: So I started looking around and it appears supercharged cars run full throttle air fuel in the 11s with very few even touching 12:1 much less 12.5

We are still left with the fact that the car did not dyno or e.t. consistently with advertised power figures.

11.6 in the quarter mile is not anywhere close to 810 horsepower, which should be down in the 10s.

Time = traction

MPH = power

they are on the warrantied kit so they aren't going to put a drag tire etc on so they will never run a good time

Also dynoing in 7th gear is a no-no

Yep, that is one reason why I emphasized that fact in my post. The other was that seventh gear should show the highest horsepower and torque numbers, as the first line shows, which makes the 629 hp figure even worse.

Something else is wrong with that setup. It's about 100rwhp off.
