That’s the gotta be one of the stupidest things ever to put a stop start on a manual
they did it with the Bronco too, and if that is anything to go by, i've only ever seen Auto StartStop engage on a manual Bronco when not moving, in neutral, and the clutch released

Yea true. It’s stupid IMO. But EPA for ya. The S550 never had it so i don’t understand why the S650 does. Did the S550 ever get a gas tax? My 16 S550 didn’t have one. I just hope they can figure out a tune soon though. Wondering if i can get 28mpg hwy or higher on these. I got 28hwy tuned on my 16 Mustang GT Perf Pack

the 2020-22 GT500 had a $2600, 2015-20 GT350 had a $1300, 2021-23 Mach 1 auto had a No Charge(why list it then???), and 2021-23 Mach 1 manual had a $1000 gas guzzler tax

Doesn't add up for my sticker. According to the chart I should have a GGT of $3000 but is listed at $1300 instead. Is Ford subsidizing some of this?
I think I understand what your asking and the confusion when looking at the tax chart.

If I look at the charts, they reference, "combined fuel economy", in the title. On my 22MY, this would be $2600 😳(17 MPG). I did not pay $2600. :whew:

I paid $1000, which aligns to the mileage when looking at the highway-only MPG listed on the sticker: 22MPG, which equals $1000 on the chart.

IDK why the difference in using highway-only and combined. Maybe there was some kind of rule change along the way. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️

The Car & Driver article is from 2023; Ford's calculations may have changed since being published.

Wow, just seeing this for the first time. Great news! I'll take the start/stop button for $1,000 off the price. I was hoping this might happen after they added start/stop. I can push two buttons every time I start her up instead of one.

Further, I have NEVER known a single person who has experienced engine failure or starter failure due to auto stop/start.
I can't speak to engine failure but just go to your local autozone and ask them if they sell a lot more Starters and alternators for that matter and batteries now compared to what they used to. Then ask them why.

2020 F150 4x4 Limited. 2024 GT Mustang Premium. Both in Rapid Red.
Maybe active exhaust or the gearing in the performance pack makes the difference on mine?
Before I ordered our 2024 GT, 401A . I was looking at different Mustangs in dealer stock.
The first thing was the Mustangs wit different options.
On the right side of the Window Stickers was the Mileage.
If the GT got 24 miles per gallon there was no GAS Guzzling Tax.
If it got 23 miles per gallon there was a gas guzzling Tax.
Anyone actually ever see. Stop//start improve gas mileage? I’ve never seen it.
NO,
start stop, is a GIMMICK
probably a government induced gimmick!

I paid the $1000 and I think I agree with you The best part is the jokes on the EPA. Where I live and drive it would never shut off because I don't stop long enough, if at all. Wish I had that $1000 back a little now, even if I do hate AS/S $1000 is a $1000.

Urban myth in these parts, but YMMV.

The tech order says the starter and a few components are upgraded with Start/stop system installed.

I suspect the same ‘core’ parts are used on one job 1 cars without the ‘function’.

The question will end up being, will job 1’s (without automatic anonymous assumption and spontaneous system suspension) fetch a 1k premium at / when / if resale.
