So much GTD fanboi tears coming...
Actually, might be the other way around. The zr1 finished a second and a half faster than the gtd.

With all the hype that everyone created with the zr1, that's a complete flop.

No wonder they took so long to release the numbers hahahahaha

People keep thinking horsepower figures are everything lol.

Good times no doubt, but weren’t some saying like it would run a 6:27 or something?🤣🤣🤣

ā€œComplete flopā€ 🤣 It’s a car designed for the street first and foremost, as opposed to the GTD that was designed as a track monster that happens to be street legal. It also costs about half the price, by the way. Oh, and both the base ZR1 and the ZR1X were faster. They also have nicer interiors. The GTD is a cool car, don’t get me wrong, but it’s twice as expensive and slower. That’s reality.

Yeah, people had some wild numbers for it.

It took hundreds more horsepower, hundreds pounds of less weight, mid engine, all for one second šŸ¤”

Another thing to note, 1.5 sec difference on the Nurburgring is within scope of driver skill and the track conditions on the diff days of the runs. Same day same skilled drivers these things would prob run neck and neck in all honesty

How so?

It beat the GTD that costs over $100,000 more and was purpose built for the race track. Remember Ford calls it 'a race car for the road'?

The GTD is hand built and had a custom designed front and rear suspension that shares NOTHING with the stock Mustang. The ZR1 rolls off the assembly line on standard Mangeride shocks...imagine if Pratt Miller (who builds the C8R) built a Corvette like that for GM?

Ford should go back with Max and see if he can beat this. Nothing like a good old fashioned shootout šŸ˜Ž

To me after all this porsche, vette, mustang...

The Viper is the most impressive. 7:01 in 2017

I also think it’s a win for Chevy that anyone that has the means will be able to eventually buy a ZR1/ZR1X, instead of having to be an influencer and submit an application to Ford for the privilege of paying almost twice as much to be slower.

It beat it by 1.5 seconds until Ford goes back to beat it. The Corvette benefited by having a time to beat, now Ford will be able to have a time to beat.

Remember when everyone was making fun of the GTD weight and low horsepower lol They go the same speed around Nürburgring.

It took hundreds more horsepower, hundreds of pounds less weight, mid engine, just to go the same speed as a 4300 pound Mustang.

Yeah, I had a feeling it was going to be close between the GTD and ZR1. ZR1 may have 200hp on the GTD but the GTD has better aero and suspension which are critical on a track like this. Still good to see chevy following in Fords footsteps of setting a sub 7 minute lap.
