I ordered a 2026 GT mid-January and after some dealer confusion I received the VIN on Friday. When I entered the order number and the VIN at the Ford order tracking portal I see the car and it is spec'd as I ordered with the exception that it is listed as a 10 Speed Auto when I ordered a 6 Speed Manual.

What are the chances the dealer messed up the order? Is that common? I've never factory ordered a car before, if the production date is 3/30 is it too late for them to make a change? I 1000% do not want an automatic. Do I have any recourse?

I ordered my 2024 DH. It’s time for me too. The dealer had 1 outstanding allotment that had already been submitted as Oxford White. We were able to change the build to my specs & Grabber Blue. However, my paperwork shows it as Oxford White & at last (1st) oil change, the work order says Oxford White.
Definitely check with your dealer before the build. I can live with mislabeled color but you’d be unhappy with the wrong transmission.

If you got the VIN and looked at the window sticker (Monroney lable) and it says "automatic", that's what is being built. "After" you recieve a production / schedule date, it is generally too late to make a change

My dealer provided a sperate list of my options to sign with a provided copy. I did find one option that was incorrect and had the list to be redone and signed.

My sales order is correct, the VIN they provided is not correct. Funny thing is it is the exact car, I ordered the Space Grey interior, non Recaro, which they said not a lot of people order. Only difference is the transmission. To have that exact spec ordered but in Automatic at the same time is sus.

I’ve given them one more day to provide a VIN or I’m walking away from the deal. I’ve been getting the run around for two weeks now and tonight I popped in to see the GM and “they system was down” lol

you won't get a VIN until Ford puts the car in for production

Yes you do.
If you want the 6 Speed you can Re-order or have the Dealer look at Inventory at other Dealer locations in the area or the entire Country.
You don’t have to purchase the Car.

The saga has ended, deposit returned and I am now looking at some in stock options at other dealerships.

They made a mistake when inputting the original order in January and then avoided my inquiries and never put in the correct order until the this past Monday. I am not sure if they are complete idiots or hoped I would accept delivery of the automatic transmission or get away with claiming a delayed delivery of the correct spec sometime in July.

Things ended up working out in my favour. I found a new, 2025 Dark Horse Premium on a different dealers lot, heavily discounted to the point it was $1000 less then the GT I had ordered. All the DH goodies and I only had to settle for my second favourite color.
