Factory windshields dont come tinted unless I'm mistaken. And even if they did, it would hardly be noticeable with 70% over it. You may be right about the UV part, but the point of ceramic tint is the heat reflection. If it werent for the frequency of Windshield replacements in Arizona, I would be it again. I had it done on a previous car and the heat reduction is amazing.The plastic film between the 2 layers of glass that make up a windshield as mandated by FMVSS 205 absorb 100 percent of UVB rays (which cause sunburn), and around 98 percent of UVA rays. That built-in protection gives windshields a sun protection factor - or SPF - of 50 or more, the equivalent of some of the strongest sunscreens.
Factory tint is already very close to the 70% transmission level in most applications so adding anything to it unless it is perfectly clear puts you over the 70% level.
