I'm going to tint my windows, but before doing so, I want to know how much % light our windows let through from the factory.

In my country, I'm not allowed to tint the windshield and the front side windows totally dark. Only the rear and the rear side windows can be blacked out.

The front and side windows should at least allow 55% of light through.

This means I can use a 45% tint and to be on the safe side I can only use 35% tint, but this math only works if the windows are not tinted from the factory.

Most windows already come a little bit tinted, and I don't know how much that is on our Mustang.

Any body has an idea?

Good question. Mine didn't seem to have any factory tint in the glass at all.

I went with 15% cermaic tint and still have good visibility inside and out. I still might do 70% on the windshield to help cut the heat in the screens.

Wow, is 15% legal in Arizona? UPDATE: Nope, 33% minimum required. How do you keep the police from pulling you over every time they see you?

Can't answer your question but I love Saint Maarten ! Was there in 1983 on honeymoon and for a movie in 1996. Must be a great drive from Philipsburg to Orient Beach ...

Out of the factory it says 70% ceramic tint on the windows. On all my windows and windshields is a small stamp in the corner revealing the percent of tint. I don’t know if every car has this. I am also assuming that 70% means 70% of light passes through meaning it’s a 30% tint as we know it. So any tint you add already has a 30% start.

One douche bag at the dealership is a tint guy who comes up to you and tries to sell you aftermarket tinting. He insisted the car has zero tinting even when I hold the door open and show him how much darker it is. (This was BEFORE I learned about the window stamps declaring their exact tint. If I knew that I could have really shoved it up his….)

Yes, if yours say 70, than that's 70% of light that gets through.

Here’s the sticker on my window….

Thank you. If you have that, than mine would be the same. Will check tonight.

This means that I can only use until 85% tint and maybe better only 80% tint to be on the safe side on my side windows without breaking the law.

No problem! I debated getting additional tint, but I think I’m Ok with factory tint. The rear louvers I added help darken the interior as well.

My old Mustang had a darker tint, but I was never bothered by the law. That was old school tint, now we have this new ceramic tint which seems to be far superior.

This video helps and also shows the different % of tints at 2:44..have to go full screen to see the % legend

Yeah, I think I have to go with 80% to be on the safe side. Now I'm also thinking of doing 80% on the windshield, if it really helps against glare like the guy said in the video.

Dark tint is seldom inforced in the valley of the sun. As long as you can see in the windows they wont hassle you. If you do happen to get pulled over just make sure you roll down both windows before they approach the vehicle. Plus The difference between the two isn't as noticeable as you'd think. Most places dont sell anything in between 15% and 35% here. It's almost impossible to tell the difference between 15% and 20% side by side. It you do have factory glass tint they will factor that into any additional tint.

Now I did have 10% on my M1 and I will say that WAS too dark. I re-did that one.

I don't think my car had any tint at all. in some cases you couldn't tell when the window was up or down.

I ended up tinting the side and rear with 15% ceramic, and 50% ceramic on the windshield. 50% on the front is the closest you can get to looking "legal" since in texas its illegal to have your windshield tinted, but from a distance you can't see anything past the steering wheel since the other windows are tinted, but it has a noticeable difference in heat penetration

I think all Mustangs have 70% tint on their windows, like Starship Enterprise showed.
