People are giving the wrong answers.

The icon people are talking about is when the system works and detects when the car is too close to another car while driving.

The icon you see on this picture is different. It has a diagomal stripe through it, which means the system that detects your distance isn't working.
See post 8. 😉

...also must differentiate between "Isn't working" and "deactivated"

One is a problem, the latter happens in Track Mode.

That icon doesn't differentiate. It just tells you it doesnt work. You have to figure out what the reason is.

The manual that @AZ_Ryan posted says that you can disregard the icon if not accompanied by a message. The deactivated can happen for any number of reasons (no message), malfunction should have a corresponding message.

Awakened this thread today as I had seen this icon this morning... like the OP, I couldn't find it in the manual... it isn't listed with the icons or the dash warning messages. I did however remember this post and found it.

Likely weather related for me this time... car was in a warm garage, it is just below freezing outside... as I was driving to work, frost/condensation could be seen forming on parts of the car. Shortly after leaving the house, I got the big red collision assist screen... though there was a car making a left turn up ahead, it was so far ahead that I don't think that was the cause... a short time later this icon came up.

Hmm. Maybe a glare or frost obstructing the camera?
