From the Savage Geese documentary. First time I've seen an underbody on one of these Dark Horse (or any S650)

So it's a giant box, no inner pipe cross over in any way? I haven't owned one newer than a 2012 so I wasn't sure what they looked like in the mid pipe.

Here’s a cutaway from what I would assume is the same carryover resonator in an S550 GT. Looks like a standard straight through muffler with perforations. I see fiber glass so idk if it’s packed with it and they just removed it, but in theory this would be like a giant glass pack if that’s actually the case (straight through chamber, perforated, surrounded in fiber glass)

Thank you, that's super helpful!

Guess I'll be looking into resonator delete H pipe options in the future 👍 but I'll wait to hear it in person before making any judgements.

For sure! Assuming it’s identical, swapping to a normal crossover will save you a solid 10-15lbs too 👍

Just remember that a resonator only exists to block resonance of the exhaust. I.e. drone.
If you want a louder car get some headers or an exhaust. Resonator delete is just asking for headache (yes I know how popular they are)

For sure, I'll definitely consider that first as well.

I have gone from off road exhaust back to high flow cats in my Mach 1 before to get rid of drone and rasp/rattle. Never owned a car with an actual resonator, but if my 2012 GT/CS had one from factory that was removed before I owned it, it sounded great without. It was catless with Roush axle back.

Upgrading to an active compatible exhaust sure is significantly more expensive though...

+1

Getting the right mufflers, like Corsa’s which are basically Helmholtz resonators, counteracts the awful drone that typically comes with the suitcase delete

If that's the dark horse, I'm coming here to publicly admit I was wrong :lipssealed:. Was seriously expecting the mid pipe to be something like the GT350s.

That's also potentially good news though. Swapping out the suitcase shown in the OP for a true X has shown 5-7 HP. However, based off the DH videos so far, I'd be worried a true X would be obnoxious. It already sounds louder/brappier(new word?) than the GT with active exhaust.

No, no... Brappier is a word, just usually saved for the rotary community.

I assumed so, just being goofy. Can't quite describe the top end of the DH note. To me, it does sound different, there's pops/slaps, kind of like how the bullitt sounds but also not the stereotypical catless corsa coyote rasp/slap.

Upside down, although if top is rear and bottom is front 👍🏻 . imo the x needs to be opened a tad, where it merges with cats….would prefer it be as direct/smooth as possible. Aim the exhaust at the x.

Man I had one. And cut one off lol I know. It’s just a reference pic.
But yeah, it wasn’t really a “true X”. You’re right though but as I mentioned it’s kind of a good thing the 24 guys got the suitcase. $150 bucks for a real X and 5-7HP. The 5.0 likes it.

If it’s true and the only real difference between the gt and the dh engine is in the tune (granted stronger rods) the aftermarket is really gonna have fun with this iteration.
