Just installed the Viofo A129 Pro. I got the front and rear cam but have only installed the front as of now.
Works great! In my opinion, don't cheap out on something that you might need in an insurance battle one day!
I also have a convertible. Did you ever figure a way to install the rear dash cam?

I do not have a convertible. One thing you could consider though it just mounting the rear cam on the back of the rear seat headrests. Or just put it on windshield and point backwards. It will still capture plenty behind you

I bought another dash cam with a rear camera and the cable is 23 feet long. I only need like three or four feet. I've been searching the internet high and low and can only find cables of several meters in length as if they anticipate everyone is installing these dash cams in an MCI bus. I installed another just like it before in a different car and looped up all the excess and ziptied it somewhere in the rear quarter but it interfered with the radio reception - had to unplug the rear camera if I wanted to get clear AM signal. I'd have to take a lot of the interior apart to run all the excess wire in such a way as to not create an induction loop.

Does anyone know if these dash cam rear camera cables can be cut and spliced shorter? I assume they are four really fine tiny little wires inside but I don't want to cut it and then find out I can't. Or does anyone know of a source for shorter cables? Its a 5-pin connector on the rear camera end and a 2.5mm male plug that goes into the dash cam (plus a separate red wire that would tap into reverse lights if it were being used as a backup camera) like this one. Or if you've tackled this dilemma of excess cable yourself, where did you run all of the excess cable in your Mustang to avoid interference with other electronics?

With my GT having arrived at the Port of Brisbane yesterday, I was about to pull the trigger and get a Viofo A229 Pro dash cam in readiness.

However!
And yes, I realise you can wait forever for the ultimate widget to come out, but...

How To Install BlackVue DR970X Plus On 2024 Ford Mustang

Chris Cervenka said:
Looking to install the ‪@BlackVueOfficial‬ DR970X Plus on your 2024 Mustang?
Look no further!

When it comes to dashcams, the BlackVue DR970X Plus is a solid option that offers 4K video up front, 1080p in the rear, all with a super high bitrate for high quality footage during the day and at night.

Follow along step-by-step for an in-depth install on this S650 Mustang.

Irrespective of your specific model dash cam, you can apply the same installation tips from Chris.

I am not entirely convinced that the placement of the front camera is correct. In my EU version, there is a sensor in the mirror and mounting the camera in this way covers it up.

Have you decided which 1 you will be getting yet?
A329, if the release schedule down under isn't stupidly far away.
We normally trail the US by a month or so with Viofo releases.

I might end up getting the A229 Pro for Mustang now, and can always move that across to the daily (RAV4) when the A329 becomes available, and then fit the A329 to the Mustang.

I was briefly entertaining the idea of getting the 3-Ch variant of the A229 Pro for the Mustang, and instead of fitting the internal camera (as you would if you're a ride share driver), using that third channel with their waterproof camera.
https://www.viofo.com.au/product/rwc200/
Which would be hidden in the grille, angled down, and become the front splitter parking camera.
But I wasn't keen on the low bitrate in 3-Ch mode.
I have another plan for the front splitter camera... something for it's own topic.

Noice the 3rd camera was a good idea, keen to hear what that will look like when you post it

Hide the wiring behind the trim, because I highly doubt you'll find shorter ones. At least I haven't been able t.

I use a Rexing V1P which is 4K front and HD rear. As a recipient of a recent accident, the lower resolution rear was adequate to prove the driver that hit me was speeding, besides crossing a double yellow.

I've been using a dash cam since the F1000 (1080P) became available in 2007. Anyone who has driven with one will tell you how many traffic violations they see everyday. Seemingly, I can't even drive two miles to the grocery store without seeing at least one infraction. What's more, if you find yourself engaging in road rage, make sure the sound is on, and about once a month, playback the results. It'll sure change your attitude!
