I recently got my hands on a 2024 Mustang GT (S650), and I’m already thinking about making a few changes. One of the first mods I’m looking at is swapping out the original seats for something more performance-oriented, as I couldn't choose the seats when ordering the car in Europe. I’ve heard that Recaro seats are a solid upgrade, but I’m not a fan of the white ones offered by Ford Performance. I’m specifically looking for black Recaro seats that will match the rest of my interior.

Here are my questions:

  1. Has anyone swapped out the original seats in the S650 yet? If so, how straightforward was the process? Any tips or things to watch out for?
  2. Does anyone know where I can find black Recaro seats that will fit the new S650? I’ve been searching around but haven’t had much luck so far.
Any advice, recommendations, or even a point in the right direction would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I did this on a 2014 GT. Swapped my regular seats for Recaro's. Everything bolted into the same places. I would imagine the S650 would be the same.

I saw that there is some cables connected to the seat, should I just leave them disconnected or do the recaro bring a connector for them?

Are your stock seats heated and cooled? Power/Memory? Cause that would be what your existing cables are for. Recaro don't have those (at least the ones coming in my DH don't).

They are only an upgrade if you need them, some folks don't like the way they fit on them and they can be hard to get in and out of. I would try them out first (at a dealer maybe?) before you buy.

To @agreywolfe ‘s point they will bolt right in as they share the same tracks as the base manual seats. The only unintended consequences are that the DSM harness will not match correctly so you’ll lose any kind of memory, heat or vent capability from your stock seats.

The Ford Performance model's retention of the GT seat brackets, air bag/function, and manual seat adjustment are great points in their favor, but DANG that is a huge price point difference between Ford and the models at Lethal!

Then there's the Ford color scheme issue too (kind of odd given if we option the Recaros for a build; they're all dark). 😕

The FP version are in keeping with the color scheme of the FP800s those come standard with.

Thanks for your reply! But then if I leave everything disconnected, I will not have any trouble with the the electronics of the car?

But then if I leave everything disconnected and I just bolt the seat, is that okay?

Yes, they are heated, but I do not mind losing the memory and the heated functionalities, I would just like to install the recaros and be able to drive it without any problems

It will not mess with the electronics at all going from a power seat or manual seat to a Recaro seat. If this conversation was the inverse where you were replacing a recaro with a power seat you would have issues where you would need a new driver seat module and likely need a new BCM or a re-flash. It’s an easy job don’t overthink it!

I have a set of 350 Recaros if you want em. From looking at the frame rails I’d say they are the same mounts.

I’m looking at replacing my recaros with standard 401A seats. I have 7k miles on the car.
