Take a blow dryer and heat up the decal to loosen the adhesive. Take a credit card and gently put it on a corner. Lift slowly and use a degreaser to remove the remaining adhesive on the bumper.

Use a heat gun to heat up the decal, then use a Plastic razor blade to lift it off. Apply 3M adhesive remover to get rid of any residue.

Is there a right way or a wrong way to do it?
Most of the dealers around here don’t use decals or the metal brackets anymore.
When they did, I always found it easier to take them off on a nice hot sunny day, that heats the adhesive.

There is an easier way to remove the stick-ons (they're technically not decals). Prepsol® is a pre-paint solvent used to remove all sorts of grime. Spray cans may be bought from Amazon®. Just a small amount on one corner will allow you to peel off the emblem. You can also use Prepsol® to remove any remaining glue. By the way, using a credit card can scratch the paint.

My dealership knows me well and when I pick up my Mustangs, they are unwashed, no dealer logos, all ford stickers still on it, no front license plate bracket, and the seats still wrapped in plastic. I do all that myself.
I do have the unused dealership decals so if a future owner wants one lol.

On vintage mustangs it is a big deal if the car has the original dealer logo on it.
Some of us are old enough to recall when dealers would drill 2 holes and secure their metal dealer label to the trunk lid.

Same here. My dealership knows that I don't want one of their decals on my cars. Been buying cars from them for years.

When I received my Dark Horse my dealer asked me if I wanted to do what you did. I told them no and that there better not be any dealer stickers on it and that's what they did.

When I moved to the southeast I was shocked to see all of these dealer logos, many of them Chrome, on brand new vehicles. I had never experienced this growing up in California.

When I bought my Mustang they asked me when I wanted to come get it, I told them I'm not coming to get it, you're bringing it to me. And if it has one of those dealer stickers on it, I'm not signing the papers.

They showed up the same afternoon, car washed full, of gas, no dealer sticker.

Here's an example of what we had attached to new vehicles in the 60's straight from dealerships.

A few years back I ordered a Cobra. After waiting 15 weeks, I get a call that the car is on the ground. I told them I will be there in 30 minutes as I did not live close.
By the time I arrived they had drilled the front bumper for a plate bracket. I refused the car. I am fortunate to live in a state that doesn't require front license plates or I be getting tickets. The plate just kills the looks of the front.
The current Gen has the dimples but they are not really noticeable.

Our dealers put number plate surrounds with their logo on. I'm not a fan.

Just noticed they put a horribly ugly dealership decal on the back of my car I just bought. It is huge, white and sticks out like a sore thumb. They should have to ask you before they do that.

I should have taken pictures of how bad it was. Thankfully a hair dryer and credit card took it off.

Next time simply spray WD-40 on a cloth and it will get the sticky off fast.
