In total, I've seen 30-40 GT's get listed on dealer lots within a 50 mile radius of me in the past 2 days. I'm beginning to wonder why even place a custom order if dealer lots get filled before custom orders.

Any insights? Obviously if you have super custom requests then thats a reason, but for most, why?

Most likely those orders are custom and already sold. Some could be dealer inventory - and if there's one available that matches what you want then there's no reason to buy. Personally, I wanted my car specced a certain way, color, etc., and I'd rather order it and wait then search for the exact thing forever. And in the case of Perf Pack, for example, they are only accepting retail orders for it right now, so there won't be many dealer ordered cars that have it.

I ordered custom thinking I would get to skip the line. I.e First in first out (which is obviously not how this works)
I also am getting a smoking deal by ordering with my dealer.
If it weren't for those, there would be no reason to order a custom one.

Avoiding mark-ups, custom spec'd, and relatively first to receive!

Order one or more if you like. If another like it or to your satisfaction lands on a lot, try to work a good deal that you are happy with. Has worked out for me several times with various vehicles. I try not to put all my eggs in that one basket...

1. You're far less likely to pay ADM.

2. You're able to get your exact spec.

3. For the Mustang specifically, you don't have to worry about buying a car other folks have wore out during test drives.
