I must admit that I like the screens. Having the HVAC controls on there is a slight problem, but can't these things be adjusted with the Ford Assistant? (Which I haven't actually used yet myself - I just got the car a few days ago, so I'm still playing around).

My only issue really is that the instrument cluster is a bit cut off in the corners due to the steering wheel. I think they could have designed a slightly more ergonomic setup for the screens in terms of shape and size. Having said that, I like that the main infotainment screen points toward the driver and sits just off eye-line (some vehicles have their infotainment screen sitting quite low near the centre console - this has never made any sense to me at all).

Being concerned about our freedom and vigilant to notice when it’s threatened is why we still have it. If only citizens around the world had the same backbone to speak out and stand up against threats to freedom no matter how big or insignificant those threats appear.
Most world leaders are doing just that today!

Yes

key word here "court authority"

Better thread title may have been "Information sharing...Love/Hate"
There's really two topics in one here. Thank You for the article though Alan. I am against data sharing with any outside entity. I'm surely not getting any sort of safe driver discount when the "loud car" rolls down the driveway.
Please don't tell me you think this is a bad thing?

How the IoT Is Solving Murders and Reshaping Discovery

As you say strong privacy laws (as in Europe) are important so that only law enforcement authorities get access when required and approved by a court. This prevents companies using the data for commercial benefit.

I know for sure if I was murdered I would want any car data used, if appropriate, to find the murderer.

Although, can a ‘spouse’ be compelled?

Well, I didn't expect the variety of posts which have ensued! I did say it was a love/hate scenario and the replies certainly prove that point.

One of the points I tried to make (albeit distraction is the most important in my book) was the intrusion of advertisements while we're driving. I'm not a Google fan by any means for many reasons. But their use of collecting and using GPS data to propagate advertisements via built-in vehicle electronics is an invasion of my privacy. I trust the powers-that-be address this specific issue.

Along the lines of ‘inserted advertisements’ when on pause.

A

A) Powerful jacks to lift car for maintenance, or to jump a gorge. B) High traction bullet proof treads which add tremendous HPs to all tires. Can climb mountains. C) Rotary saws just in case you want to take a shortcut through the woods. D) Automatic roof which is waterproof and bulletproof. E) Infrared head lights to see at night. F) Turns car into a submarine so you can drive underwater. G) Homing robot bird to send out messages or for help. When in 4th grade we'd run home to watch this cartoon.
You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. 😉 You forgot the coffee maker.

You have to use reverse psychology. Had you started off with a completely different topic, we would have ended up talking about our love/hate relationship with the screens.

What do you mean by the advertisements while driving? Like using your gps location to show you things around you or do you actually get ads popping up while driving?

Here is the deal which you can read into the included article I posted.

You're driving down the street, it's about 11:30 am, and your car's fancy-dancy screen with audio pipes up to tell you Denny's restaurant is three blocks ahead on the right! This kind of privacy intrusion is about three steps past insanity!

It's only a technical possibility - not actually happening now

It is happening. The new Ram PU has a passenger screen which will do just as I described.
