S650 GT Grill > Restriction > Are there any before and after dyno runs with nothing more than the airbox lids removed?

All,

I've seen this issue "sort of" addressed..... but I haven't seen any straight up back-to-back dyno runs of a S650 GT on dyno... stock... with airbox lids on, and airbox lids off (basically simulating an open GT grill non-restricted grill).

Are there any?

Thanks.

As i understand it, you can't replicate on a dyno the intake airflow in actual driving.
So any differences shown on a dyno run may not occur in the real world.

Let me rephrase the question (sorry).

The question is: Are there any back-to-back dyno runs... showing a before-and-after comparison, of a stock S650 GT with and without the airbox covers on (hood open).

That's all I'm asking. Thx.

I believe Lund did some but with bellmouths or something on the throttle bodies

I did see something similar a couple of months ago, I can't remember the tuner, but it might have involved the Steeda CAI system.

Has anyone put a pressure sensor in the stock s650 GT intake, between the grill and airbox (with lids on)... On a Dyno?

I see this conversation get completely takeoff on a tangent to air intake temperatures.... but zero about if the grill is actually restriction considering it's mostly blocked off. A pressure sensor Will definitively tell the story....

Which is why I'm asking the question given this so much chatter about Cold air intakes, different throttle bodies, but no actual data behind whether or not the front GT grill is actually causing an intake restriction., and if so... How much?

I don't have time right now but I'm going to get one on the dyno and log the pressure between the grill and the air box.... I was just hoping somebody had already done it, considering all the chatter about CAIs.

IMHO the dyno will not read an intake pressure accurately as the car will not be moving unless you duplicate different speeds with a ducted fan. All the alleged "Cold air intakes" that are open in the engine compartment defeat the purpose as hot air behind the radiator will get sucked into the intake. This problem will increase with forced induction and an intercooler. has anyone tried this solution? https://www.fsperformanceengineerin...ustang-gt-s650-2024-honeycomb-mesh-grille-set

What problem is that a 'solution' for?

Forget the pressure readings... which have nothing to do with a dyno.

Let's try it this way... Has anybody done a stock GT dyno with the airbox covers on and with them off? (stock everything else).

Not that I'm aware of as the difference would be negligible, The dark horse has an opened up grill leading to the intake box. The factory GT grill is restrictive and can be modified to improve cold air into the filter box. And at speed say 70 mph vs a Dyno comparison apples to oranges.

I would think the GT grill is very restrictive irrespective of speed. Just look at the area that's actually open. It's trivial.

A dyno ... stock-to-stock with airbox lids on and off will tell you whether or not it's restricting HP.
