Our 2025 Mustang that we just bought is my wife's dream car.

So here's our problem. She loves to put the top down but when she's out alone driving she's afraid to put the top down because she has a terrible time with putting the top up and locking it in place again. She has a weak right hand, because of arthritis.

So, we are wondering if it's possible to reduce the force require i.e. adjusting the tension of the locking handle? We don't want any problems with locking the top so that it doesn't it leak whenever it rains or washing the car?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Also, we are new to this site, and this our first post.

@Bill Dezen ..... no you cannot reduce the locking force as it would put the top and you at risk.....and if it ever came up at speed was caught by the wind and detached you'd have no insurance. Can she purchase some kind of wrist brace that will attach with velcro and be easy to get on and off? Can she sit in the passenger seat to lock the top then switch to the driver's seat thus using her left wrist?

Suggest that she use her left hand to reach the top left corner of the top and pull down on the roof while she twists the handle with her right hand.

Best is to use both hands on the handle to pull and twist, using the above if necessary.

Suggest to pull down on the top not on the front corner, but about midway in the door window opening, where the hinge point on the top. It will push the front closer to the Windshield making it easier to latch.

My top used to stop about half an inch away, but it seems to have loosened up since new. What I did when the gap required a lot of force to pull the top down was to release the button when it stopped moving, and the hit the button again. It moved it far enough that pulling down and turning the handle was easy.
