Our 2025 Mustang that we just bought is my wife's dream car.

So here's our problem. She loves to put the top down but when she's out alone driving she's afraid to put the top down because she has a terrible time with putting the top up and locking it in place again. She has a weak right hand, because of arthritis.

So, we are wondering if it's possible to reduce the force require i.e. adjusting the tension of the locking handle? We don't want any problems with locking the top so that it doesn't it leak whenever it rains or washing the car?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Also, we are new to this site, and this our first post.

@Bill Dezen ..... no you cannot reduce the locking force as it would put the top and you at risk.....and if it ever came up at speed was caught by the wind and detached you'd have no insurance. Can she purchase some kind of wrist brace that will attach with velcro and be easy to get on and off? Can she sit in the passenger seat to lock the top then switch to the driver's seat thus using her left wrist?

Suggest that she use her left hand to reach the top left corner of the top and pull down on the roof while she twists the handle with her right hand.

Best is to use both hands on the handle to pull and twist, using the above if necessary.

Suggest to pull down on the top not on the front corner, but about midway in the door window opening, where the hinge point on the top. It will push the front closer to the Windshield making it easier to latch.

My top used to stop about half an inch away, but it seems to have loosened up since new. What I did when the gap required a lot of force to pull the top down was to release the button when it stopped moving, and the hit the button again. It moved it far enough that pulling down and turning the handle was easy.

It definitely loosens up after a few uses so there will be less pull required while twisting.

Consider as well a short stick you could keep in the glove box to provide a bit of extra twisting force on the handle, if needed.

Torque = force * lever arm. Maybe you could duct tape an extension on the handle so it’s easier to twist🤷🏼‍♀️

Also when we picked up our new Mustang (Jan 2025) the windshield fluid bottle was empty so i checked all the other fluids and they were fine. Has anybody else had a similar experience?
Our Mustang only has 289 miles on it now.

A User Manual was not included when we bought this car. It's a first for us. Every other car that we ever bought had a User Manual included with the car. So, for us to get one we had to pay the dealer (Maguire Ford Canandaigua NY) an extra $75 to get a User Manual!

Another question. Our Mustang does not have forward parking sensors only rear ones. Don't know why not but does anyone know if there is any after market ones that I could install?

Thanks,

A few members of the forum have mentioned that their engine oil was low when they took delivery. Mine was about a quart low.

I do not believe any of the newer Fords are shipping with a physical copy of the Owner's Manual anymore.
They are however available to view and download at Ford.com, or you can view it directly through the center stack screen on your car.

Yep. On a brand new Peugeot rental we picked up in Rome. It was filthy too. Very unimpressed.

I like the online manual accessed through the screen in the car and the downloadable .pdf user manual. Shortly after placing the order on my 2024 EcoBoost Premium I downloaded the manual and was able to look up the things I was interested in well before the car arrived. When I got the car and had to program the garage door opener I was able to call it up on the screen and follow the directions as I programmed it. The added benefit of not having the manual in the glove compartment is there is more room for gloves.
