I did just this in my 2023 F250 XLT because I had the ACM on hand - came out of a 2021 F-150. After some Forscan coding I got full functionality in my truck.
So, my new S650 Mustang has the base ACM and I’m considering the same upgrade path, or not…. Why not you ask? Because I’ve learned just how awesome the new center screens are at displaying CarPlay in FULL SCREEN mode. Indeed, I can see my Waze map all the way across that beautiful display. This is a first for me in a new car. I’m impressed. Still, so what does this have to do with the ACM? Answer - I have also realized how well the Sirius XM streaming app works in my area and in this car. I pay for one subscription in the truck and stream it in the Mustang. Amazingly, the song name is shown across the top of my cluster screen when I stream SXM using CarPLay, quite a pleasant surprise. I’m not sure I have any degradation in sound quality and SXM is quite compressed and low-res anyway. What do you all think? If I stay with this usage, then I am missing just HD Radio capability. Note that I didn’t mention upgrading the APIM to get Ford Connected Nav into the car. Waze works great even if that does not show turn-by-turn in the cluster as I’m sure the Ford system does. But..should I decide to find a used (or new) ACM, anybody know the relevant part number(s) to look for? When I run a VIN search I get maybe 10 radios returned without enough detail to discern which is the HD/SXM version of the ACM. And…anyone yet pulled the ACM out of the car? Is it a slide in like the S550 or a drop in from top like on the F150/250 trucks?
