So I may be trading my GT premium for a Dark Horse premium with Recaros. Looking for feedback regarding the Recaros…for those of you that have them any regrets? Anybody not get them and wish they had them? It will be my daily driver but I’m not a big guy either. Thanks for any input!

Not my daily driver but have done some road trips in my R - would imagine the Recaros would be pretty close to the DH- Im 6'2 200# and they are super comfortable to me.....plus I love the way they look....

I have Recaro's. It was not my first choice, but the car had everything I wanted, including the color, except for the Recaro's ofcourse. It was either buy that one available from the lot or order a new one and wait for many months. I chose for the quick option because I had no time in waiting for a custom order, just because of the Recaro's.

At the end I think I'm more than happy with the seats. First of all, they look way cooler than the standard leather seats. Second is maybe not so popular opinion, but I really like the non-powered manual seats. Adjusting the seats manually is much faster and easier. The only thing it lacks that I wish it had was heated seats. The cooled seat function I don't care about, it feels like you wet your pants. And comfort? I'm skinny and I really fit well in those seats. They hug me like my side chicks do.

Very helpful response! And I agree the powered seats actually annoy me too!

Also maybe a thing you might lose are the turn signals in the side mirror.
I don't have the Dark Horse, so I don't know what equipment group you need to have on the Dark Horse to have turn signals on the side mirrors and if you care about the turn signals.

But for me, turn signals were a MUST, and I lost the turn signals because of the Recaro's.
Turn signals in the side mirror come with the 401A equipment group on the GT and I think they come with the 700A on the Dark Horse.

Even if you have the 401A, you will lose the turn signals if you choose Recaro seats instead of leather seats.

Don't ask me why Ford did that, because I found out that the side mirrors with integrated turn signals are plug and play.

I wouldn’t go out of my way for the Recaro seats. You lose a lot of features, and cough up more money. They are unquestionably a good track seat. But, I cannot get in and out of the car easily without moving the seat every time. It’s a little thing, but it’s EVERY time you drive.

It would be great if it were power/memory seats, but they’re not.

Now, that said, I do not regret my Dark Horse purchase. But if I had to do over again I’d probably hold for a standard seat model.

I am 6'4", about 250lb, and find the Recaro seat very comfortable. I also don't care that they are manual and not heated or cooled.

This is my 4th Mustang with Recaro 's

Opinion: Recaro seats garner a lot of rave reviews for their supportive nature and adjustability. But as a daily driver seat? They stink!

I once owned a Mercury XR7 with Litton seats, which were 16 way adjustable. Great for the long haul (that was what I was doing at the time), but as a daily driver, they too were lousy!

If we assume you actually bought Recaro seats because your goal was racing? But you'll soon learn the version Ford sells isn't as good as you thought they'd be. Recaro's true racing seats are fully customizable, and they're a heck of a lot safer seats to sit in as well. You'll discover the latter fact the first time you hit the hay bales obliquely doing 50+ mph!

I'm sorry, but losing heating and cooling, and other amenities, isn't worth either the extra cost or the so-called support!

I have Recaros, like them and am glad I made that selection.

I wanted them for three reasons:

- Visually, styling-wise, I felt they complimented my build

- They are lighter, with none of the power, heating, etc., of more advanced seating

- Less complicated (see above). A simple, manual, race-oriented seat

I've had the car for a few seasons now. The leather is wearing fine.

It took me a while to get the adjustments in-place , but once I did, the ergonomics were just right.

I found I have plenty of adjustability, space and support. The seats are comfortable.

People with large frames might want to test drive a set first. Some can find the side bolsters off-putting.

Oh one other thing popped in my mind.

The plastic seatbelt holder on the seat is a joke.

1: You can't even get the seatbelt in. It's a pain in the ass.
2: If you managed to get it in, it will go out in less than 2 seconds.

That holder is not designed for this seat in my opinion and I don't even know how this passed the design and testing fase.

Appreciate all the input! It’s definitely a personal preference and it sounds like it’s either love or hate. I’m planning to go to look at it/test drive it tomorrow.

I was going to order them, but the dealership had a Mach 1 in the showroom and told me to sit in it before I made my final decision. I decided that I didn’t want them. I would recommend you find a car with them and see how they feel to you since we are all individuals and what maybe uncomfortable to me, maybe perfect for you, even if we are the same size and weight.

Good problem to have. I was in the same situation. Have had corbeau’s in my past mustang years back so I understand what it takes to live with that style seat on a daily. I had to sit in on a pair at the dealership. I ordered my performance pack with the Recaro seats. My blend date is early May. Still going back and forth and hope I made the right choice. I can live without the cooling, the heating is nice but the loss of electric function made it a tough choice.

I have the recaros and am very happy with them. Having said that, they are tight (great for track and short drives but wouldn't want to drive any distance with them). A buddy of mine has a zl1. His camero has similar recaros but his has electric adjustment, heat and cooled. I wish I had those options. If it was my daily driver I would go with the non-recaros. If you're more focusses on shorter trips or track, hands down I'd go with the recaros. Regardless of the seat choice the Dark Horse is amazing.
