Anyone know if the rear differential temp sensor harness is a pigtail harness that plugs into then main harness for the rear of the vehicle? Any pictures would be great. Looking to install the rear diff temp sensor and harness into my non-PP Mustang. Already have the sensor which threads into the rear diff. Just need to locate the harness.

Thanks. I've been looking for the past two days. Fortunately, I have the active exhaust so hopefully the connector the pigtail plugs into is somewhere close and easy to spot. Ford OEM parts online doesn't show a picture of the overall harness the pigtail plugs into. By chance are you looking at something that does? I just want to make sure I get everything needed and have a game plan before I start the install.

I’m interested to see if you’re able to get this working. Even if you plug everything in will it show up on the dash?

Ford doesnt have any pictures of the wiring harness itself, but i was able to find it through ecat. i was able to find it because i know that wiring harness goes through a body plug in the trunk, and this has exactly that. here is a picture of what i see

the wiring harness i gave you the part number for is the pink one, and i used a Dark Horse VIN to get the correct part number

Do you have the part number for the temp sensor? I’d like to add this to my non pp as well

This is great. Thanks roket! As for the dash, yes. I have access to Fdrs and I already it turned on for both the auxiliary gauge display and the center info display. Just need a temp now. Ford dealer provided me the part # for the rear diff sensor, 9L8Z-6G004-B. They also said the same part is used for the engine coolant temp sensor. Let me get it installed and confirm it all works before you buy the sensor. I’m waiting on the sensor to come in and I just ordered the harness. Hopefully it won‘t take long for both to arrive. I’ll post with pictures as soon as it’s complete.

Sweet looking forward to see if it works. Hopefully just plug in play with the active exhaust harness

I did and then double checked it on Fdrs. I will send you the module address on Sunday as I am out of town and don't have access to my spreadsheet.

Roket66, can you tell me what app you used to find the harness? I would like to compare the harness the pigtail plugs into to see if there is a difference between the DH, PP, and Non-PP. The harness that runs into the trunk is a 12 pin harness that is missing 3 pins. Hopeful the pins missing are not for the rear diff temp sensor. Attached are pictures of the harness and pigtail as it runs through the trunk.

Upon further investigation, I think the only way to make it work is to change the main harness for the rear of the vehicle to the DH or PP harness. My guess is the PP harness has the pin for the diff sensor and the DH adds pins for the rear diff cooler. All the pins on the non-pp harness and pigtail are accounted for. Curious to see the difference in harnesses between the DH, PP, and Non-PP.

If someone with a dark horse or PP can send a photo of that plug that would be great. I’m not sure if ford would really have 3-4 different harnesses just for a diff temp plug but what do I know.

I would not think so either but what do I know. For that fact, I could be looking at the wrong harness but that is the only harness that runs through the trunk and looks to plug into my active exhaust. Does your Mustang have Active exhaust? A picture of the harness on a DH or PP would be good.
