Granted assume permits an awful lot but chances are anything that would be controlled by that ‘switch/toggle’ will be an on/off type not a hold for action like the convertible top button. The on/off would most likely trigger an externally powered modification, chances are the addition/modification won’t be powered by the switch just activated/deactivated by it. Since the switch has an indicator light could one simply check for that current when attempting to control the ‘addition’. Instead of tracing and hacking the computer to reassign a function could one just use the light to determine if the switch has been toggled?

Oh, I would assume you could get something from it. But as I stated in other posts, you'd likely have to rely on a latch/impulse relay to be able to power something.

Anyone know if the button is already pre-wired so that we can just tap into it or would I need to install the required wiring to make it functional, say for some aftermarket ambient lights?

I basically got paid $1k (didn't pay the gas guzzler tax) to have the " A " with circle in that button postion. My start/stop system inoperative. There is a recall to update the system but I'm good with it not working. AND mines a 3 pedal car.

i guess i never shared my findings from a while ago here; no you really cant practically do anything with the blank button. the button row is actually just one button with what i assume is a capacitive face, and whichever button you put your finger on first is the one that it assumes is pressed, except for the hazards which take priority. in order to repurpose it, assuming the ASS-less ones still put out a LIN signal, you would need something to decode it and do it that way

I was just about to type that we need someone to make a nice vinyl transfer that says EJECT to put over the blank space above the switch.
