Apologies in advance for the long-winded post, but need some advice. Anyone else have issues with clunks and rattling after having these installed? I had a local shop install them in December with no issues at all until June. I have noticed worsening noise driving over some uneven roads, more so when going under 45 mph. I started noticing it in the front right of the car and then coming from the rear wheels. It’s gotten progressively worse, but doesn’t seem to make any noticeable reduction in performance driving over smoother roadways even at higher speeds.
I brought it back to the shop that installed it and was told that the front camber plate needed to be replaced “because it was the OEM part” but they were not able to diagnose the noise coming from the rear. I brought my car to a performance shop and asked them to check the front and rear, and was told that there was a stripped bolt on the camber plate and their opinion was that it likely was stripped during installation. I later remembered that I bought upgraded Steeda camber plates specifically to ensure that there wouldn’t be any issues with the aggressive setup, so the first shop likely stripped it or didn’t tighten it to factory spec and it slowly stripped by itself.
As far as the rear, neither shop has identified the problem, but I suspect that the factory bump stops is the cause (if Gemini knows anything). I also bought the upgraded Steeda pre-cut bump stops for the front and rear, but for some unknown reason, the shop decided to leave the factory ones on the car.
Does anyone else have any ideas other than the bump stops and camber plate being the cause of these problems? I am going to order a new camber plate, but honestly, the rear rattle more so than the front, is driving me crazy!! It is rattling over almost any road imperfection. I don’t feel like either shop even considered the bump stops as a possibility and they both seem stumped about that and are focused solely on the front camber plate. I will likely try to replace the bump stops myself since they’ve been in my trunk for 8 months now, but I don’t want to go through the trouble if the problem goes beyond the bump stops.
