Good morning,

I recently added a RTR ducktail spoiler and had it painted Brittany blue to match my car.

I love how the wing looks but the paint match is a bit off given how the paint appears on plastic surfaces versus metal.

I notice this on the front of the car when comparing the hood vs the plastic piece running in front of it. The lighting varies the mismatch, sometimes u see it sometimes u don’t.

Have others experienced this? Am I losing my mind??? Is there anything I can do to resolve it or just choose to ignore it, or pain the spoiler gloss black (as the shop offered)?

Different materials will react differently to paint. My fenders are fiberglass and in the paint match process my painter had to use nitrous blue off the Focus RS to get a proper match with the grabber blue ford is using.

As for whether you should go black, up to you. If it bothers you, then sure, if not the who cares.

A reputable paint shop would have you bring the car in so they can see its color and make adjustments to external additions paint jobs, ie. spoilers.
So I should tell the shop to keep trying to match?

From the pictures it doesn't look bad to me. But, I'd think they could do a better match if younarent happy with it. I agree those duck tail spoilers should match the body color.

It's not too bad and resembles the top of the front bumper adjacent to the hood, which they didn't paint.

What do you think about the alignment of the ducktail edge (top right and left corners)? I want to ask them to improve it.

Yikes. Those gaps would definitely bother me. It's probably the spoiler and not the installation, as it looks equal in bothe sides. 😬

Here is how RTR explained the spoiler not fitting…
In our testing, we have noticed considerable differences in fitting our components onto OEM Ford Mustang chassis. We have notified them of our findings. Those being slightly misaligned body panels and inconsistent panel gaps across the vehicle line. This has led to us encountering similar issues in our installations.
Does this mean if the panel gaps were reduced, the spoiler would properly align?

Basically it's means they are blaming the poor fitment on Fords panels and it is what it is. But to me it looks a tooling thing since the gaps are equal in both sides. I passed on that spoiler based on those pics.

The spoiler fits fine on their RTR cars and on their install video.

I really didn't care for the unpainted duckbill spoiler but it looks fantastic painted the body color! Really good!
